Should we prioritise the Premier league?

Should we prioritise the Premier league over Europe?

We could basically rotate the whole team bar the two CB's, I'd put Son up front as well. I'm hoping Mason is alright to start? Not sure what his current situation is?

Think we should prioritise the league for sure, but don't just throw the EL. We've got this run if wins going that will continue to breed more confidence. I think we have enough in the squad to give Fiorentina a good game over two legs. With Palace at home in the middle there isn't exactly too much travel involved is there? Think a changed team could also beat Palace as well.

I think we need to rest Kane and Dier in Italy, and then Toby, Dembele and Eriksen v Palace.

No Vorm.

With rotation options elsewhere the only pinch point is LCB. I'd go for Davies rather than 2CV but then Rose has to play as well.

In other words we should just about have enough to get past the next rounds of the cups, and I haven't got a clue what I'm talking about.

I hope we do well in EL and FA cup but if we get out of either competition it won't devastating since it will help our push in BPL. I can watch cup games without any stress really.
This is a very good point.

I was thinking this morning I am not overly worried if we get knocked out of the FA cup and Europa League in the next 2 weeks but then when I am watching the games I want us to win, however without the stress of the PL games.

Vorm, Trippier, Davies, Mason, Bentaleb, Carroll, Onomah, Chadli, Lamela/Son (whichever is 2nd choice at the time) have all previously proven that they are good enough to play in the cups, so it's not like we don't have options for rotation. Also, I believe N'Jie is due back for the last two months of the season.

For Fiorentina, they struggle with pace and well timed runs cutting in from the side and their Central midfield is technically sound but physically weak, so I think players that can close down quickly and move the ball forward with speed would be beneifical as well as forward players with good quick movement.

Personally, I think we should go with a front 4 and cm 2 consisting of the below for the fist leg. The CBs we have to play the same 2 for now in all games IMO and FBs, I feel comfortable whoever plays, as long a s we rotate as we have been.

Chadli
Alli Mason Son
Carroll Bentaleb
The below for the FA Cup v Palace

Kane
Eriksen Lamela
Dembele Dier
The below for the 2nd leg v Fiorentina

Chadli
Son Mason Lamela
Carroll Bentaleb
The below for Swansea

Kane
Eriksen Alli Lamela
Dembele Dier
If we get past Fiorentina (and I think the 2 teams above will), then we have the below games after EL games.

Villa (A) or FA Cup Quarter Final
Bournemouth (H)

Stoke (A)
West Brom (H) or FA Cup Semi Final

Chelsea (H)
Southampton (H)

If we make the Quarter Final of the EL, then we play a EL game after 4 of last 5 games.

if we do well in the FA Cup as well as the Europa the only real downside might be when we would play Villa though not the toughest of ops, and a tougher one in WBA

Yes I agree. Couple of things though, firstly, I was wrong about then the 1 quarter final 2 legs would be, it would actually after Man Utd (H) and Stoke (A) (not Stoke & West Brom). Secondly, West Brom are still in the FA Cup (playing Reading) so could quite easily win that and the next round and out game v them would be postponed anyway.

Looking at our fixtures, if we do well in the FA Cup, the Villa game would probably be postponed until Wed 20th April (in between Stoke (A) and West Brom (H)/FA Semi final) and the West Brom postponed game until Wed 11th May (in between Southampton (H) and Newcastle (A))

I still remember the mystique that used to be associated with Cup Final day. The build-up would last for weeks, then on the day it would get round the clock focus. Not in an over the top SSN way, but with people holding it in genuine reverence. Plus it was the first cup I ever saw us win, at a time when we held the record for the most FA Cup wins. This club used to have a great tradition in that tournament, and I would love to see us win it again.

The Europa League just doesn't have the same appeal to me. It's a weird hybrid of the UEFA cup, the Cup Winners Cup, and the CL rejects.

So we should go all out for the Fuck All Cup because you get misty-eyed thinking back to a time when it actually mattered.

Got it.

Me, I'd prefer join the ranks of Atletico Madrid, Chelsea, and Porto- all of whom have used the EL as a springboard to win either their own respective domestic leagues or the Champions League- than join the likes of Wigan and Portsmouth, both of whom managed to capture your cherished prize.

The EL is a flawed competition, yes- but as opposed to the FA Cup, winning it actually gets you something besides a mere harkening back to an era when "I Wanna Sex You Up" climbed the charts.

If we beat Fiorentina, we would still have to play a minimum of 7 games to win it, whereas if we beat Palace it would take 3 to win it (without replays obviously). When you factor in all the midweek travelling as well it's a no brainer I'm afraid. Key players should not be risked in the EL and kept fresh. We might be fit under Poch, but we're not super human and fatigue can be mental as well as physical.

Fiorentina away is a tough ask. I want to win this competition but think we should go more defensive than is usual but have some quick players on, like Onomah, to try and hit on the counter attack. Keep some top players on the bench in case we need them for the last 30 minutes

I'd give ccv a run out in one of the games.
