4.5 & 1.5 performance bonuses. This guy could be a steal at that money. We should be aiming at guys like this. Easy on the pocket and well worth the gamble. I honestly believe Jermaine Defoe wouldn't lace his boots!

Is this the same defoe that scored 10 goals in 10 games in the same league at a young age

Nah don't be silly. We're going for the top 4 mate, can't be hanging around with chaps like this. He's unproven at our level. And besides, he may have score lots but he when he doesn't score he contributes nothing. He's the new Jermaine Beckford. Let Blackburn have him, if he scores goals for them, gets them up and then scores in the Prem then maybe - but that's a long way off.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure one of the 20 Premier League teams would have picked him up for that price, and those wages, if he was any good

Might be wrong though...we'll see.

Rhodes isn't a kid he's 22, the only notable thing about this trabsfer is the whole host of Premiership clubs that wern't interested! Not even an Everton, Villa or Norwich who would see this kind of signing right up their street let alone one of the bigger clubs with more money to spend.

To even compare him with Defoe is ridiculous, Defoe was smashing goals in for fun at his level at 17 not 22 and scoring prem goals at 18.

Rhodes is a good player but clearly not top class.

Not for me. If we're going to buy an untested 22 year old he needs to be something special.

I'd rather see us develop our own young players and give them a chance into the first team squad than buy every player showing potential from the lower leagues.

He's a good player with potential, but we happen to already have a few of them at the club.

With Ade and another bigger name possibly coming in he wouldn't play much, Harry Kane is our Rhodes, hopefully he keeps developing...cost us nothing too!

I'd put him in the same category as Conor Wickham, Freddie Eastwood and that little Welsh bloke who did backflips who's name escapes me, blows away lower league sides, looks like he could do a job at a higher level but ultimately doesnt have the ability to step up. I've no evidence for this, its just a feeling. Plus he's Scottish, its been illegal to be a good at football if you're Scottish since 1982.

Hasen't he gone for £8million? Buying someone like that as a main striker would be a massive step back! Thoughts of Grzegorz Rasiak spring to mind

Robert Earnshaw.

Rhodes isn't particularly Scottish either, although I can see real potential about him, he's not right for us at the moment.
