If you look at the Sidwell/Parker incident closely, you can see that just before the actual impact with the leading elbow into the face, Sidwell's eyes are looking directly at Parker's direction. Therefore, it is so evidently clear that Sidwell knew exactly what he was doing and with INTENT.
As such, that is the judgement that should have been made by the referee at the time, in determing the appropiate sanction and punishment.
Verdict : The referee failed miserably and got it totally wrong. It should have been a straight red.

Sidwell has always been a nasty piece of work and always will be thereby compensating for a noticeable lack of skills, technique and ability with skullduggery. However when the going gets tough players of his ilk certainly make their presence felt and can be found in most Premier league teams and in abundance in lower leagues.
What endears me to Parker, bearing in mind that the nitwit of a ref constantly made several negative decisions against Spurs players, never bothering to protect them from some of Fulham players professional fouls is that he generally dusts himself off and gets on with the game. The fact that he didn't must surely have registered, after several reflections by the man in black, of his monumental cock up.
Hopefully the useless F.A follow up on Sidwell's shenanigans though that just might be too much to ask.

Christ on a bike! How was that not a red card? There is no need for his arm to be there at all.

The referee clearly didn't see it - I didn't in real time - so, surely, he has to look at it now and report it to the FA
