Signing a winner

I've been a bit out of the loop with transfer gossip recently and was extremely happy to see that we have signed Modric. I really feel that he will be a quality signing. I think his presence will help us before next season as other potential signings see that the mighty Spurs mean business.

Do you think we are after at least one experience winner (rather than 3 or 4 fairly young talents)? People go on about Carrick in the season we almost came fourth, but I think Davids was just as big a reason. He had that steely mentality that he instilled on the other players in the team.

Who is there out there that we could potentially sign as one of our additions this season? My worldwide football knowledge is no good and I'd like to hear opinions of people who know more.

If there is any chance of him coming to us, i think Gattuso would be made for us. Proven winner, tough tackling, no nonsense midfield leader - precisely what we need. can't see it happening though unfortunately, but one never knows....

I would be very surprised if we don't take a good look at David Albelda. Should be available on a free transfer or a nominal fee. He's a leader and he shows huge commitment on the pitch. Get him in on a two-year deal with an option for a third. Low risk, potentially high gain.

Thing is, Modric won't raise the age profile. If the insinuation is that age = experience, expect to see other older established players arriving.

It is a great signing. It suggests to me that Ramos wants a few more players around who are comfortable with the ball so that we can get it down and play some quality football. He will be a real spark for us if the limited times I have seen him are anything to go by.

I agree that we need some winners/experienced players and I think they will follow. I don't expect to see anyone come in who isn't comfortable with the ball at there feet though.
