Okay I would love Zaza, he was built to play in the PL. I've watched him many times, far from the finished article but will give a summary.

Firsty, Zaza is a powerful, strong player he is also lightning quick. He holds up the ball very well and is impressive in the air. His movement is excellent and has a nack of getting into good scoring positions as well as finding space for himself. Sassuolo commonly use the strategy to kick it up to him, allow a deeper runner to collect the flick on who then play the ball into space for Zaza to run onto, a strategy which is used to great effect. He is a player capable of bullying defenders and defends from the front, he is also very direct.

He has issues though, he is not the best passer of the ball and can often mis-control balls. In fact stats will show that he gives the ball away a lot. I would argue that these stats are misleading. He is often the only man in the opposition half and can be left stranded with little support. The tactics that sassuolo employ are also mostly based on speed of play and lots of movement as a way to create space for others to run into. They are not scared of losing the ball, rather they are fundamentally a counter-attacking team which attack when in possession and therefore are very prone to losing the ball. Zaza is the player which the team plays off. His role is often to hold on to the ball until support arrives, most times he will lose it but the times he doesn't Sassuolo create chances from.

His other weakness is he can be extremely wasteful. He is great at creating chances for himself and the amount of times he gets one on one with the keeper or has found space to shoot from is impressive. He is 11th in the league for shots per game in the league and is not exactly one of those players that shoots from anywhere. I have seen him miss countless of easy chances. He is only 23 though and has been improving in this respect a lot.

Also for someone so quick he is not a particularly good dribbler. He normally creates his chances by using his pace to a ball played into space. There is an argument against teams that play 11 men behind the ball he could struggle to play his natural game. This is a valid concern when it comes to what we need at Tottenham.

Still, he is a player I like a lot. Mostly because he can do a lot of things. Even when his runs dont work, by making those runs he creates space for players, such as Bernardi for Sassuolo and Eriksen and Kane for us, to shoot from deep. He also can play has a typical battering ram. He is a player with all the qualities you look for in the PL. In england players from serie a often struggle because they are not used to the pace and lack the phisical qualities to make it. Most italian strikers, or anywhere on the pitch actually, are very good technical and tactical players but normally do not have imposing frames and have little pace. These issues are not a problem for Zaza, I seriously can't remember watching a player who is so obviously suited for the PL. I really would love this to happen.

the final 90% of that completely destroys the opening 10% in which his qualities are mentioned.

Good at holding the ball up - but often mis-controls it
Gets into great goal scoring positions - wastes numerous easy chances
Quick - not a good dribbler

Sounds like another Soldado to me, or being generous, Kane, but not as good a dribbler, finisher or with as good a touch. Being a big lad is fine but just because you're a unit doesn't make you a good player. There are dozens of players fitting this description that have been toilet in the prem but bought for big money because they fit the "premier league" style striker mould.

Don't think he's all that. Watched him numerous times and, yes, he scores for Sassuolo, but fails to really impress when stepping up to a bigger level. Has looked relatively poor playing for the national team, often choosing wrong options like trying to go it alone instead of squaring it. Often loses the ball in silly ways or picks out the wrong pass.

The one thing I will say, is that he does work hard. He tries to get stuck in, and sometimes it doesn't pay off, but he is quite resilient.

In other words, a shitloadcheaper version of Ade?!!

Bit of a donkey if truth be told.

Would rather Charlie Austin then this guy.

Benteke is the one we should be going for.

I'm always a bit sceptical of buying forwards from Serie A, as they get so much more space and time on the ball there than in the PL. But I like what I've seen of him, and nothing would be better than us buying him in the summer, and him turning out to be a great fit for us! I also truly believe in our scouting network and in Poch, so if they think he will fit, then I say go for it.

Reports of him today, saying he's going to juve. They're short on strikers again

By the sound of it, we may as well put in a bid for Gomis from Swansea. He's shit too, but he's got EPL experience.

Haha well that does sound like us and levy in particular... We will soon have quotes from their president saying "we thought they we interested until they offered us £1million, some left over scrap metal from Archway and the used condom levy wore when he screwed the Archway family!!"

I honestly don't rate him that highly. From what I know about serie A, he isn't my first choice.

Serie A in a depressing state but Juve with Llorente, Tevez and Morata want him then he's good enough for me (and even if they don't). I find him a similar but more aggressive and physical (though less intelligent) version of Danny Ings. With some guidance, discipline and stamina this guy could be a double edged sword of a fox in the box with a beastly forward press--just take a look at how many goals he's scored or assisted from picking off and exploiting defensive mistakes. There's no dethroning Kane at the moment, but this guy is worth a punt IMO.

1. Serie A isn't depressing. For instance, they've got 3 teams left in European competitions when no teams are left from Premier League.
2. Juventus always want anyone and everyone remotely close to kicking a ball for the national team
3. A less intelligent player than Ings has no place in Spurs (as I believe intelligence is one of the things we've been lacking too much)
4. The bit in bold can be said about every second striker on the planet, and the bit in italic is Adebayor in a nutshell.

I wonder if those assist stats produced from defensive errors/pressing errors you speak of are what has piqued Mitchell's interest. Sounds like the kind of thing a numbers scout would be interested in if that's the kind of attacker poch wants.

I've never seen him play so hopefully he gets a run out against England on Tuesday. Would be good to see him up against some average premier league defenders.
