So angry at this game....

I was unfortunate to attend this game and I have never seen a team like Stoke who basically push the cheating stakes to the very limit. They time waste over goal kicks, throw-Ins and free kicks, which a strong ref should at nipped in the bud early doors.
They are without doubt the most frustrating and unappealing side I've seen for manya year.

I'm still absolutely fucking raging. It's lucky my girlfriend's in the bath or I think she'd be sporting panda-eyes.

Disclaimer: I don't beat her... Honest

Bloody hell, how long she's been in there for?
Are you sure she's alright?

I've only just now calmed down, I'm not one to usually complain about refs at all but their incompetence has really cost us today. I know we started sloppy and failed to cope with Stoke's "football" for the 1st quarter of the game but after that we played really well and I was impressed at how Harry changed up the system at half time.

It's just so annoying that besides the clear pen that we got every little decision was going to Stoke from corners that we should have been given to goals that wasn't. I seriously hate Stoke and the way they play and in no way did we deserve to lose that today and that's the frustrating thing when all of our rivals have picked up wins.

I'm hoping for a city win tomorrow, the title was never likely to be on but I believe 3rd is so im hoping Chelsea drop points.

Amongst all the bad decisions I was annoyed at how Crouch was allowed to push, pull, back into, fend off and elbow our defenders for the whole game, with complete impunity.

It beggars belief.

I think this photo, taken a few minutes before the game, might shed light on his performance...

Anyone else think modric dived?

He went down but was more than entitled to imo, he done there defender like a kipper and he kicked him in the shin. The alternative would have been to stay on his feet and the ref would have given no pen. When Stoke resort to their shitty tactics I have no problem with one of our players going down in the box after being caught late.

Just for clarification...I agree with ShelfSide, and others, Stoke are what they are, I have no complaints about the way they play...I have complaints about the way they are officiated.
Ignoring the massive incidents of Foy ineptness...they are constantly pulling, hauling, mauling and shoving opposition players over. For them to be physical is allowed, for them to push this to the limit is allowed, for the referees to constantly ignore them taking it over the limit, whilst penalising the opposition for the most innocuous of touches is offensive. Likewise, 10 seconds are alotted for throw-ins - for the referees to allow Stoke upwards of 15 seconds per throw, more like 20+, because they want to dry the ball for a long throw is actually contravening the rules of the game, and any ref who allows them to do so shold be called upon to explain why he allows a team to break the rules of the game.

Style of play or not, Stoke deserved to be up at half-time; style of play or not, we clearly should have had a draw, at least, out of that game, but for the massively inept refereeing of Chris Foy.

So, in essence, without criticising Stoke for playing the way they do, they benefitted in general by weak officiating that allowed them to break the laws of the game in a number of ways that gave them an advantage, and they also benefitted from jaw-droppingly bad refereeing on major decisions, that saw at least 2 (and probably 4) penalty claims waved off with nonchalence, a legitimate goal disallowed for no very good reason, corners awarded as goal kicks (all in Stoke's favour) for no clear reason, and a Spurs player sent off, seemingly because the ref wanted to. On top of that, whether it was easy for the ref to see or not, Stoke's first goalwas handled.

And yet, in this litany of refereeing incomopetence, there is not one complaint about Stoke's style of play.

I think its a 100% nailed on pen, but either way the lad was a dick to be sticking his foot out there and invited the pen on himself.

It does look like he went down easily but when he sees that leg being dangled like that he naturally alters his stride to avoid it which in turn could easily have caused him to lose balance and fall over.

Agree with the point about the leg sticking out, that's asking for a penalty. However I really don't feel there was enough contact there to warrant a penalty. If suarez pulled the same thing against us we'd probably be on here moaning about what a cheat he is. Unfortunately the refereeing was so bad today that had that penalty not been given, there were enough errors in the rest of the game which meant we still should have won anyway.
