I just can't seem to figure out how we are going to play. The popular 4-2-3-1-1? a 4-3-3? 4-4-2?

I think I'm going for the 4-2-3-1 that we ended up with last year.

My first eleven:

Lloris

Walker Dawson Chiriches Vertonghen

Capoue Dembele

Lamela Eriksen Paulinho

Soldado

Wow......that is some team!!!

I always find teams play better with 12 men on the pitch. Great tactical play to get all beasts and creative geniuses on at the same time!

AVB is obviously very tactical so it totally depends on the opposition. Also the CB pairing will always depend on the opposition.

Attacking:
Lloris
Walker - Kaboul/Dawson - Vertonghen - Rose
Capoue - Paulinho
Townsend - Lamela - Eriksen (interchanging)
Soldado
Normal:
Lloris
Walker - Kaboul/Dawson - Vertonghen - Rose
Paulinho - Capoue - Dembele
Lamela - Soldado - Eriksen/Townsend

Defensive:
Lloris
Walker - Kaboul/Dawson - Vertonghen - Rose
Sandro - Capoue
Paulinho/Dembele
Lennon - Soldado - Chadli

Hard to say to anyone he won't start regulary and won't make the bench. Hopefully the spirit is good and we are long in lot of cups to get everyone enough game time.

It will always depend on the opponent. If we are playing an attacking side, we will choose more from Dembele, Pauli, Sandro, Capoue. If we need to break a team down we can pick one more out of Holtby, Eriksen, Lamela, Lennon, Chadli and Townsend.

Holy fuck what a squad, and two more coming maybe.

Guaranteed starting places:

----------------------Lloris------------------------
----Walker------x-----------Vertonghen-----x---
----------------x------------x------------------------
-x--------------------x--------------------------x
-------------------Soldado------------------------

An open fight in the midfield. If I have to choose a team:

----------------------Lloris------------------------
----Walker-----Kaboul------Vertonghen----NEW--
--------------Sandro-------Paulinho----------------
-Lamela----------Eriksen-------------Chadli-----
-------------------Soldado------------------------
Subs: Friedel, Chiriches, Rose, Dembele, Capoue, Townsend, NEW
Sorry for Defoe, Lennon, Holtby or Daws. Really would love to include them. (I already sold Sigurdsson and I am a fan of his)

wtf is going on.

Assuming everyone is fully fit and available, and not taking form into consideration, I reckon will line up with.....
Lloris
Walker Kaboul Vertonghen Rose
Capoue/Sandro
Eriksen .........Paulinho
Lamela .......................... Chadli
Soldado

I'm really finding it hard to choose between Capoue and Sandro for the holding role. I think because of his better passing Capoue will be used a lot more at home than Sandro. We might use both in tougher away games.

Interesting line ups: If I had a choice

Lloris
Walker Kaboul Vertonghen New
Paulinho Sandro
Lamela Holtby Eriksen
Soldado
Has so much creativity. Maybe Capoue for Sandro in some games or for Holtby if we need a tight midfield. Will be interesting to see how Vlad does as he might make it to CB ahead of Kaboul. Who knows, maybe Dawson will find some way to wriggle his way back into the starting XI

the point is, we don't have one. OK, obviously some will be more regular than others like Lloris and Verts but...

we have finally, for the first time ever, built a true and proper squad that can compete, stay fairly fit and sharp on all fronts through to the end of the season. No more first elevens and backups, but a true squad of fighters.

No more relying on 1 or 2 superstars. We've done that for years with Bale, Ginola, Berba, Modric... all fantastic talents but only a few league cups to show for it since 1991. We're a lot more even now and there will be a lot of changing around, more than we are used to. We won't be singing individual praises as much as we will be for Tottenham Hotspur, the football team who just, just, might get us some more glory outside of the league cup.....

...and I for one can't wait!

......................Soldier...................................
.....Lamela/Chadli...............Townsend/Lennon
.........Paulinho......Dembele/Hotbly/Eriksen...
.....................Capoue/Sandro.....................
Rose..........Jan............Kaboul............Walker
........................Lloris

To commit further (injuries and rotations & lucky dips aside):

.........................Soldier................................
.....Lamela................................Townsend....
............Paulinho.............Eriksen..................
........................Capoue...............................
Rose..........Jan............Kaboul............Walker
........................Lloris

But it's a truly strong squad that you would actually want to chop & change.

GK: Lloris
RB: Walker/Vlad/Naughton
LB: BAE/Rose/Naughton
CB: Verts/Kaboul/Dawson/Vlad
DM (Guard): Sandro/Capoue
MC: Paulinho/Dembele/Carroll/Holtby/Capoue
AMC: Eriksen/Lamela/Holtby/Siggy
AML: Eriksen/Lamela/Townsend/Chadli
AMR: Lamela/Townsend/Lennon
SC: Soldado/Defoe/Lamela/Ade

Maybe Chadli SC & AMR too.

No Idea...

The good thing is that compared to last seasons, whatever team AVB picks I dont feel nervous about any position right now... top players at any position and top back-ups.

My team would be:

Lloris
Walker Kaboul Verts Rose
Capoue Paulinho
Lamela Eriksen Townsend
Soldado
In AVB we trust.

Can everybody please stop dropping Sandro (many fantastic games for us) for Capoue (a couple of decent games for us)! It really is annoying me, I have man-love for Sandro as much as the next man, but I'm not allowing it to cloud my vision and I have to say that Sandro is by some distance our best defensive midfield player. The man is an absolute beast. There will be loads of rotation this year and all of the 4 horseman will get games but the idea that Capoue has moved himself ahead of Sandro is absurd.

I love Sandro and think he will go onto be one of the greatest we have seen in a Spurs shirt - I truly believe he has world class potential but he had a serious injury and if we can ease him in over the next few months and give him the time to get strong again gradually we/he will benefit from it in the long term.

Take a chill pill. Sandro will feature plenty. He is a key player and a defensive midfielder of immense dimension. Right now he's still bedding back in from injury, that's all. People have been impressed with Capoue, and so form and gentle re-establishment of Sandro dictates the choice of many.

I agree on that Lufti. For 'easy' home games a trio of Lamela - Holtby - Eriksen would be fricking ridiculously creative. Then sit Capoue & Paulinho behind them, both good passers of the ball too.

Easily switches to a 4-3-3 too. Sounds like we're going to get another attacking mid in though so if we do I suggest we all stop worrying about it and just sit back and enjoy. AVB has got this :)

I agree and obviously the injury will take time to fully recover from. But people are suffering from "shiny new stuff" syndrome and dropping a loyal player to the bench but will then go over to the Bale thread and call him a mercenary? Apart from that, at this moment in time Sandro is quite simply better than Capoue.
