Well, that escalated. He cant even play for us now anyway as he's at AFCON. It gets worse!

In addition to the upcoming agreement for Vlahovic's transfer to Juventus, Fiorentina are ready to sell Sofyan Amrabat as well. The purple club has in fact reached an agreement with Tottenham on the basis of a loan until the end of the season with the right of redemption set at 15 million. Now there is only the "yes" of the player, currently engaged with Morocco in the Africa Cup, but there is a feeling that the deal will be made: both Paratici and Conte are great admirers of the former Verona.

It's international duty now anyways. AFCON ends on 6th of February and we have our next game on the 9th. So IF they advance to the final, he might be available for the next fixture and if that's the case, would he have started that game?

Had a little look and there are a few articles linking him to Inter during Conte's first season when Amrabat was still at Hellas Verona. This one seems to have the most relevant quotes:

According to Sky transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio, there was a meeting taking place today between Inter and Maurizio Setti, president of Hellas Verona, at the Nerazzurri HQ in Viale della Liberazione.

Both sides reportedly did have a conversation on midfielder Sofyan Amrabat which Verona will redeem for €3.5M and then sell him for over €15M. On the 1996-born midfielder, Inter really like his characteristics and quality (Napoli are also interested), so much so that in the coming days Inter could decide to take further steps forward to beat competition for Amrabat.

Maybe pure shite, but certain implies there has been previous interest from Conte in the player and he's not some random bargain bucket pick from Paratici.
There's also some Fab Romano articles from the time basically saying the deal was under consideration for January, but when it became too difficult Conte decided to move on and not pursue him in the summer because he could move for more 'important' targets.

Sounds familiar to our situation now. If the deal and situation is right, it's clearly a player he knows and likes. That's enough for me

Of course we wrap up a deal for this guy of all players out of nowhere.

Vintage Spurs, absolutely ruthless when it comes to signing plan D.

Edit: That said, if Conte signs off on it that's fair enough. I just hope we aim higher in the summer.

We need cover in CM, if we can't get the players we want, then I'm happy to see how he does on loan for half a season.

Better option than Dele, Lo Celso and Ndombele sat at home

A couple of weeks here now learning the ropes would have been good though really.

Can we at least use our heads here? He obviously means 'main target' under the circumstances. We are limited by the wage bill.

Ndombele is on 200k
Lo Celso is on 70k
Alli is on 100k

We may get 70-100m for them combined if they go on to do well elsewhere, as well as getting over 350k off our salary bill.

That will allow us to go and get prime targets in the summer who will probably cost 30m+

We can't do that until we get these off the pay structure and the only way to do that is to loan them out and hope they have a buyer lined up in the early part of the summer.

Not doing so, may mean we have to spend the entire summer waiting for someone to offer these players a loan move, severely restricting or ability to bring in Conte's targets.

This process is about cleaning the decks first so that we can go harder in the summer.
Always with the carrot. At this point I think a lot of folks think the carrot has gone off.

This window has gone how most windows go and yet here we are trying to find ways to defend it.

It doesn't matter as nothing is changing and the owners aren't going anywhere but it's frustrating, I want my club to challenge for football trophies nor architecture ones.

Didn't Schneiderian go to Utd and then Everton and was not great at either from memory

He did, went to United for 30mill (roughly) and then Everton for 20million (roughly). Never really replicated the same stats that he had at Southampton though.

The meltdown is hilarious. We have seen that none of GLC, Ndombele & Alli are any good at all, which leaves us woefully short of numbers in the middle of the park.

We have also seen that, in Conte's system, the central midfielders act like more of a shield rather than being the main creative force, which is usually undertaken by a Trequartista and the two wing backs. If Amrabat gives us additional strength in numbers to add to PEH, Winks & Skipp, and Conte likes him then Im all for it.

What’s he best at doing? It’s not scoring goals that’s for sure - makes Winks look prolific. 5 goals in his professional career.
A quick google actually shows that Winks has 5 career goals too! ?

So there you have it, we’re getting the Moroccan Harry Winks!

Disclaimer: I have no clue who the F this guy is and I’m just relieved it’s not the one that used to play for Watford. Hopefully he ends up better than we’re all worried about.

“£58m for Dusan you say…. Anything in the £500k loan fee range Mr Fiorentina?”
Or maybe we're trying to sweeten them up by taking an unwanted player off their hands...who would improve our squad (but not starting XI).

He runs very upright - kind of like a show horse.

Hopefully he's not pony.

I’m good with it, if Conte actually likes him. It also has me wondering to what end I’ll abide by that view?

Not sure where this comes from, his system relies a lot on creative midfielders. There's a reason why Inter gave huge wages to Eriksen and it's not because of his defensive ability. Brozovic, Barrela and Eriksen were all creating a lot for them. Sensi and Vidal who can't create were on the bench. Amrabat doesn't solve any of our problems, even if we get rid of 3 midfielders.

If conte fancies him, and its just a loan then I dont see the issue. Freeing up Ndombele's wages for next summer has to be the priority.
