I'd just like to point out how well I think the club are doing in terms of not just the short and medium but also the longer term planning which is so vital to achiveing and most importantly sustaining success.

1.The capital Levy is providing for Commoli to sign Young talent. I.e Bale,Gunter,Alnwick,Rose,Pekhart,Boateng,Kaboul,Berchiche,Taarabt.
Hopefully Bostock mabye even in my dreams Dos Santos, and so on. Some will work out some won't but it is still vital we do this!

2.The stadium plans. Ok not so encouring news that we've not made a decision but it does seem like we have a fair few complicated issues to get over with regards the stadium decesion however i firmly belive in 5 years time we will have a lovely new stadium.

3.Sponsors and business, we are doing very well to market our club i.e by putting the chinese writing on our shirts, bringing in the help of people involved with the olympics, higher profile sponsors etc all bodes well for our reputation and revenue.

4.The staff we appoint. Ramos-proven coach with pulling power for top class players.
Alex Inglethorpe-Very promising young manager possibly will take charge in 5-8years time, doing a good job with the youngsters.

5.Training facilities-Improving all the time.

All these signs fill me with confidence that sooner or later we will make the break thorugh to the top4 which will spiral us higher and higher.

The likes of Everton,Pompey,Villa all have decent sides and yes Villas have a fair few young prospects however i feel we are in stage 2 whereby we are not only building a good squad but also improving in all aspects which will bode well for the future whereas the others are still at stage 1 which we were at 2-3 years ago where we still needed a major re-vanp of our squad.

Some of these aspects that we are improving at go unoticed by spurs fans and football fans but are actually very very positive for the near and far future.

So I think the future is bright and the club are doing a good job. Many reasons to be positive! Just hope we can sign the players we need this summer i.e GK,CB,LM,ST and we'll nearly be at stage 3. Develop from the increased revenue of the CL :)

All true points, but could also have been made at the start of each season for the last 3 years.

yes but it is different now, these are all at more advanced stages, and we are now able to attract far better players and have even more plans in place for the future.

It has never been proved BUT we need to bring in some quality European players, with or without a new EPL law about staff. There may or may not be quality in England but it has not been evident in recent years.
We are, again, looking promising in the Prem but we did look a good bet last season....to our detriment! The next few weeks may tell you what to expect this term. So far so good but the 'proof is in the eating'!
I spoke with a member of our staff, last week, and he is promising big things (again) which includes a Berba in our plans. He did, however, admit that things change at WHL and in Football with alarming speed. THFC are no strangers to MEGA developments so brace yourselves for a bumpy ride before 2008/09 gets under way. All in all we will be in a better situation than last season. WE have a more secure decision process and, in Ramos, we have a man who seems to have a clear idea of what he can, and can't, achieve at THFC! Sadly....it is all utter crap IF we do not fulfill our 'haughty' dreams, again! COYS

can't argue that.

i would guess that Spurs are one of the best managed, best financially run, best long term futured run clubs in the Prem at the moment outside of the top 4.
consider what we had to endure from the early ninties til about 3/4 years ago, frankly, we were no better than wigan or middleboro are now.
we are certainly the 'best of the rest' and best equipped in fiancial, style of football, fan base and both short and long future terms.
the only thing holding us back that i can see IMHO is our impatient fans (myself included!).
you can be sure we heading very much in the right direction

We are a middle the league team. At best next season. Unless we get 3 new defensive
superstars/keeper top 4 is a joke.

I don't want to piss on your parade, but take off the rose tinted specs and see a little bit of reality

1. Levy may have given Comolli money to spend on Bent, Kaboul, Boetang, Taarabt, but Ramos wants rid and this will end in tears, probably for Comolli.

2. According to a number of sources we have one of the best scouts -Eddie Presland. So good he's resign from his position. Again this smells of discontent within the hierarchy, especially the coaching set up,which I believe Comolli heads

3. Levy will sell the club before we confirm our stadium plans. He ain't prepared to take financial gambe and will bale out wants he gets acceptable offer. We sometimes forget that we are PLC and levy is a speculator and he will want the best retrun in the short term for him, his business and shareholders.

4. Don't believe all the bull shit written in the tabolids or Sky Sports, because if you did we would have 76 new players coming in next year and only Berbatov going the other way!

C'mon mate where's the positivity.
1.I really doubt Kaboul or Boateng or even Taarabt will go. He will clear out the players who aren't good enough but very much doubt he'll get rid of these IMO talented future stars.
2.So what about this scout, that won't disrupt us that much and EVEN if Commoli went, Ramos has proven he can make some very astute signings so we'd still be in good hands.
3.Yes Levy may well sell to not take on the financial risk of the stadium, however EVEN if he does leave us, we are now in a far far better position, financially, on and off the field with our assests and everything is better than it has ever been in the premiership. And as a business we are in the best state we've EVER been.
4.I don't believe all the bullshit, never ever thought we'd have a hope of getting eto'o and still sceptical about Dos Santos however i always go by sky sports as they are a reliable source and they suggest we are very close to both Bostock and Dos Santos aswell as Dunne, all would be fantastic SENSIBLE signings.

The future looks good mate! Please PUT ON YOUR ROSE TINTED SPECTICLES. NOW!!!

Bostack HAS BEEN CONFERMED by the club and him. Palace chairman has also basicaly confermed it but is very angry at the way it was done. The only thing not sorted is how much we will pay in compensation. Which will be £5m MAX

yeah, it is if we go for players like Bullard

I picked Bullard as I thought they were going down and would be a great player to get at a low price.

We lack heart, fitness, steel and a vocal presence in the middle of the park and he would be an upgrade in that respect.

And if you think he is an average player, you don't watch much football.

He pretty much came back from injury and saved the season for Fulham and kept them up. He is a player that makes a difference and will not disappear in big games like JJ and Zok can.

i don't disagree on the lack of heart, steel and vocal presence points, but, do we really want to solve those problems by doing it on the cheap? that was one of the problems with this club during the ninties and most of the noughties e.g micheal brown, sean davis, acimovic, bunjevevic et al.
your ambitions compared to the boards seem to be at polar opposites
you= jimmy bullard
the board= dos santos, modric, capel?
just cos we hav'nt bough a midfield 'general' does'nt mean we're not trying to sign one

as for your impressive insight into me not 'watching much football' all i can say is its not impressive at all. since you don't know one jot about me, i suggest you just save your opinions for a subject where you know what you're talking about

And you wonder why us spurs fans get a bad reputation!? Why do some of you bother if your going to be so bloody negative and pessimistic? Good article Lukespurs! Ignore the miserable buggers!

I just wanted to add a note on our chinese sponsorship, we may pulling them with a bit of chinese writing, but when you go to the website and click on the chinese flag it sends you to either Liverpool or Man City news. We're pulling them in and pushing them out straight away, why are we giving free support to Liverpool and Man City?

If you ask the other fans what our worst trait was it would be living off past glories. The Carling cup was great to rub in their faces, but we were edging towards the big boys only for yet another false dawn to drop us near RELEGATION bound teams.

Spurs fans ON THIS BOARD get on my nerves because the rose tinted specs seem to be stapled on to your faces and the fact is we have the one of the largest squads which is also unbalanced which is pretty hard to do with so many players.

I like what you did there. Focusing on Bullard as the the only player I want. I listed around 7.

You can NOT deny we are attacking midfielder heavy. And we SCREAM for decent defenders, left midfield that can allow Bale to roam (eg not a full on attacking winger) and Modric to be effective. We need steel, set peices defending, captain material and PRO ATHELETES to shore up our problems.

What do we get? Yet more wonderkids at crazy prices. Another bacth of attacking midfielders!??!?!?!?!?!

(tap tap tap)

"Is this thing on? Hello? HELLOOOOOEEEEEE!"

:bang::bang::bang:

We score goals for fun. And we spend 20 million plus on more attacking options? WTF? I am all for the Spurs way but not cricket scores. Might as well get Keegan in.

to be honest, i only picked out bullard because, a. it was the player i could remember from your previous post ( without trying to find said post) and, b. i was genuinly gobsmacked that you would even highlight such a player as a possible target.
that aside, and i say again, i agree with your assessment that we need steel, strength and leadership in our midfield. But should'nt we take the oppotunity to improve other areas of the team as and when any number of players become obtainable as well?
just because we havn't sighed such a player so far doesn't mean we're not trying to

To be fair I think everyone knows we're a top 6 side. Yes, top 4 is probably still out of reach but the scenarios that led to us finishing mid-table wont happen when the new season starts.
