Just spitballing here...but would it be completely out of the realm of possibility for this to have come up in a meeting with AIA?

"You know, if you're ever interested in a player of Asian decent let us know and we will pay you an extra few million on top of our current kit agreement to help acquire him. Just let us know." Would that be legal?

Just had a quick look (wikipedia) at the careers of YP Lee and JS Park of whom you might have heard. Can't see any sign that either went into the Korean military. There must be a way of avoiding it for professional footballers.

Korea sounds like career? I did not know that.

Please, someone remind us all again in a few minutes, lest we forget.

It is made worse by the fact that it is the same joke each time.
Maybe someone could use "step up the Korea ladder" or "time for a Korea change" to mix it up a bit?

Jesus, that's a quick turnaround from Sky Germany. I've seen Football Manager transfers move slower than this one.

Why the hell are people talking about naming rights and shirt sales! I only care what he does on the pitch!

You mean you aren't placing your Naming Rights trophy next to your spurs shirt with "Net Spend" on the back?

Call yourself a spurs fan...

Seems like it's fabricated unfortunately. Can't see Sky Deutschland saying anything new about it anywhere

Think both were given special exemptions for being on the fourth place World Cup team.

As for military service, that's 5 years away.
Knowing our luck it won't be a problem as he will be a flop and sold within 2 years....;)

The then president gave them(23 players) special military exemption because of the performances in 2002 World Cup. It was an one-time thing.

Probably just a rehash of the stories coming out of Germany

Echo chamber defcon 4.

All these UK media reports are very probably just regurgitating the original 1 or 2 German articles. Makes it seem like the deal is getting closer when really they're all parroting each other's article from this morning.

Yes your right. Every player who was at the squad of the 2002 World Cup has got special exemption. And it was very special at that time. I think it was from the president

Has anyone seen him play, if so has he got strength? I feel that is often what sets aside the players who look good on YouTube and the ones who actually perform in the premier league.
