I don't see how it can be. I don't know a lot about Son but from what I hear he's not really capable of playing as an out-and-out forward. It would still leave us incredibly short of goals should Kane get injured/need a rest. We'd still need another player who can play as a CF.

If I'm honest, I wouldn't be opposed to going for Austin if we get Son.

Don't get me wrong I'm really glad that we might sign him but is anyone else concerned that we seem to be buying players (in son and n'jie) that predominately played on the left for their previous clubs while we have chadli in that position.

Chadli is good in flashes every other game. Nowhere near good enough in terms of application/effort and consistency. And this is his 3rd year now. No "he's still bedding in" nonsense.

I personally only give credibility to league stats. I'd be surprised if they didn't reinforce your point further. Goals against some Cypriot fishermen or Grimsby fishermen count for very little.

What's your gripe with Cypriot fishermen?! The Cypriot standard has actually risen to a high level over the past 5-7 years. They're in the CL more than us!

I'd never turn my nose up at the prospect of improving in any position (except goalkeeper, which is nigh-on impossible) but for all Chadli's faults only Eriksen can match his output from midfield.

The fact that Chadli has more goals than Lennon, Townsend and Lamela is hardly Balon d'Or winning statistics. He's currently the best option on the left of a very sorry bunch. That doesn't mean he doesn't warrant upgrading.

he did get 1 goal in 3 from a WF position in the league last season. I'd say getting someone to replicate that on the other flank, and having another player to come off the bench and impact a game (whether Chadli, Son, Alli, Pritchard or N'Jie), is what Poch intends to do.

Talking about being shameless. Isn't this the same Calhanoglu, who feigned illness, refused to play and went missing in order to force the move from Hamburg?

I'd be very happy with this.

A genuinely two footed player.

Said to be a hard worker, which we need as some of our attacking players can be right lazy fuckers *cough* Chadli *cough* Eriksen.

He can also play either wing or up top.

And he's 6 foot 1, always nice to have height in team.

This is spot on. His hard work ethic is incredibly high, he is humble for a talented young lad. He is also quite quick between the lines from defense to attack, but not as pacey as N'jie. He has a decent tackle for a WF and he's not a small guy (76kg) so not easily taken off the ball himself. In 30 matches only got 4 yellow cards, which is relatively low if you ask me. Very disciplined going both forwards and backwards.

He can create, however scoring more goals from the wing will be his primary objective in our team. He managed between 10-12 for both Hamburg and Leverkusen the past 3 seasons, and 5 in Euro for Leverkusen last season too. He really is worth the money to me, and hopefully his humility and hard work rubs off on some of our lazier/ less motivated players.
