It’s for the best, believe me the club wants no part of a South Africa tie up in the coming era, which is going to be horrific (already is)

What's the best source to learn more? (please don't say google  )

Not sure mate, tbh, I know so many people there that it’s a constant stream of info for me, not sure how you’d plug into that other than looking at a few of the key stories

Have a little search on the Gupta family, Eskom mismanagement, farm murders, things like that you’ll get the idea

Appreciate it, sometimes it's just knowing what to google!

Badly misjudged and another investment PR blunder
Why is this THFC PR blunder? They didn't leak any information that I'm aware of. They haven't said anything about this deal.

I get nearly everything ENIC/Danny does is poop. And 98% of the criticism is fair. But not sure how you can make a judgement on something we know very little about from the THFC side of things.

For example: Is there a possibility that Spurs effectively put out an RFP for an additional sleeve, stadium sponsorship partner, and that this was one of the deals on the table? That maybe there is more than one proposal being considered?

Or, is it a known fact that ENIC had already signed off on this and were ready to make an announcement, but then the backlash started? If so, then I totally agree with you. Not the wisest decision by the business operations team to commit to a contract that would elicit a huge backlash. As that is not good PR.

I just haven't seen anything that confirms this was done and dusted.

Personally I am finding it hard to see the fuss. Other clubs have signed deals that could open them to criticism in terms of the level of democracy of the countries involved. In this instance, it is arguable that the cost benefit to South Africa is questionable but it is a country that holds a lot of value from a tourism point of view even if there are questions to be asked in terms of the poverty gap over there. Not sure how this is a criticism to be aimed at the club though.

Short answer: government corruption to the point of bordering on a gangster state.

I’m completely uneducated on this, but I just have a feeling the way this debate has surfaced and played out was simply in and of itself a ruse to create publicity for South Africa

Yes, it obviously had its proponents but I’m gutted I didn’t have a bet on it not going ahead- easiest money you’d ever make!

do you think Levy pushing this assuming he did showed good judgement?
Do I think Levy looking into a deal worth 40m+ over a 3 year period for the club to raise revenues showed good judgement? Absolutely.

Should South Africa be using funds to purchase said sponsorship? Absolutely not.

Is that Daniel Levy's problem? No, but you've made your mind up anyways.

Bet SA's tourism board spends a similar amount with Facebook and Google in efforts to stimulate their tourism market and economy etc but I doubt anyone complains about that... ??‍♂️

the question was about pursuing this particular sponsor, given the economic situation there. And no I hadn’t. I thought you might have something to say that I hadn’t considered.

All entities have responsibilities these days beyond the single bottom line- whether buying or selling.
