I think we're all entitled to go apeshit based on that second half performance. There was no excuse for the drop off in performance or effort. Did they just think they could walk that one based on the first half? Arrogance or poor mentality, it was one or the other for sure.

I didn't see any of them just strolling around. I saw a Southampton side who changed their game, took advantage of the weaker points in our squad - wide play and crosses - and player their hearts out to turn the game around and give themselves a chance of survival. I just don't think Harry Kane (probably the most driven footballer I've ever seen), Walker-Peters (fighting for his place in the first team), Rose (similar, as well as for his England spot), Dele (just back from injury) etc turned up and thought - I can't be arsed. I don't really want Champions League football, or my bonuses, or a national place. I'm just going to let us lose. It doesn't add up and I didn't see it. The game changed, they did well, took control of it and won. It happens. Heck, the frequency of upsets is probably the key reason as to why football is so popular. It wouldn't be fun if all we had to do was turn up and put in some effort to guarentee three points. If you don't have the lows you can't have the highs.

The fact that Harry Winks, who has never had an injury-free season in his career, is the only player in the entire squad who can provide any semblance of rhythm and tempo and sustain the passing game from central midfield is an absolute fucking disgrace.

It's no coincidence that our run of legitimate relegation form has come with Winks out of the team. A friend I watched the match with today commented that we looked like the Stoke of old in the second half, booting the ball upfield and bypassing the midfield entirely. The lack of ball-playing CMs in the squad is something that never in a billion years should have been allowed to develop. It's beyond infuriating.

Another greedy performance by kane . Should have stuck with the llorente and son link up until we became unstuck

Instead we put kane straight in and have become hugely unstuck

I don't understand this line of thinking. Kane is one of the best players in the Premier League. If he's healthy, you start him. He also scored a goal today and really should have had more. The chances he missed during this match he should have been taking, it's not like for all of them there was a better option to setup to score.

And honestly. I love us being in the Champions League. But is it the end of the world if we are in the Europa next season? Of course not. Some of my favourite games have actually been in the Europa. Young players on the pitch. Great support with no particular pressure or expectations on us. Kane's first appearances and hat-trick, Lamela's rabona, Bale's free-kicks, Dembele's winner in Lyon. Hopefully we're in the UCL - and I still make us strong favourites for it, because a season is 38 games rather than 4 - but if we're not I'll still be there, having fun and supporting Spurs. Who knows - maybe it'll be the stage where Jack Roles, Troy Parrott or Samuel Shashoua becomes the next big thing for us. That's the fantastic side of football.

I’m not going to pretend to be a financial expert, but getting back in the CL with a pretty hefty stadium debt seems an absolute must from a business POV.

Otherwise it’s goodbye Eriksen, Alderweireld, for all the money we can get :greedy:

Of course it has something to fucking do with it. How can having better players not have anything to do with results???
So you're implying Levy offered Poch a massive war chest to improve the team but Poch just declined? Sounding very Arsenal like. Remember Wenger saying same shit.

Nah, not against teams like Burnley and Saints. We have enough quality to deal against teams like those. I don't know if Levy offered something or not, that's why I was asking if you did. I just know that some ITK's said the money was there. How much we can trust what they say, don't know.

Too pissed off for words. How the fuck can we go from a comfortable, good first half to that half of utter turd.

Soton made two changes, swapped systems and we had no reply, not even a desire to reply. That was just unbelievably bad.

Liverpool and City away have become games we have to get three or more points from in total. That's the reality now. And tbh I'm glad we have a long break from club football now. The last break stopped the good momentum we had, maybe this break can stop the bad.

Lol.

I know you’re desperate to put a positive spin on this collapse, but pretending you’d be happy to see us throw away a massive lead on Arsenal and Chelsea for the opportunity to see our second string play Qarabag, or Bate Borisov in our two thirds empty, brand new stadium is stretching things just a smidge.
Not happy. But I'd still be there. I'd still enjoy it. There would be an upside for our fringe players. And it's arguably also a better chance of a trophy. There are frankly much more important things in the world, even in football. It's fans of teams like Bolton I feel sorry for who might not have a club next season. Not us - especially when we have to recognise that expecting the sixth best resourced team to finish at least 4th every season without failure is probably unrealistic and unnecessary pressure. The only club that hasn't missed out at least once recently is City, and there's a good reason we can't match them without some real luck on our side. If the expectation is that we're going to be more consistent than Liverpool, United, Chelsea and Arsenal, we need to have a look at that.

Shane Feckin Long ... On the pitch for a cameo 20 minutes terrorised a stupefied Tottenham defence before leaving the pitch injured to let his teammates run amok and steal a victory.

I despair. The rest of my weekend is fucked. The next three weeks is gonna be tumbleweed central.

Moura wouldn't start a game for me ever. His positioning is crap.

But Dele could have send him and Kane through with earlier releases of balls.

Southampton have come from behind for the first time this season to win a game.

Oh doctor, I've missed you.

Fuck, I'm swerving football for a few weeks.

Fucking gutting we've only taken one point from four hitting the business end of the season.

Had we won today it would of been repaired some of the damage, and vitally offered a little breathing space.

I completely agree , but it’s a case of we were winning and keep that winning feeling and make him hungry to comeback . We have no plan b right now
