Critical we keep this side together. Particularly Dier who, in my view, could be our most important player (with a nod to Kane).

I don't mean he is our best player (that's probably any of Eriksen, Toby, Kane or Dele). But perhaps our most important in that his versatility is what allows us to play different systems against various sides, even during the same game.

He plays DM and CB as needed in our system, but also provide an essential alternative to the first choice players in that position when injured, suspended or form drops (eg he covered for Victor when injured; Dembele when injured; dropped back to take over from Vertongen when benched on the weekend and so on). That's before you get to the number of times he has played right back previously.

In that way he doesn't just give us flexibility, he brings a depth to the side that is otherwise lacking due to a lack of resources on the bench. It's like he is three players in one, in terms of squad role.

He also seems to be a real leader on the pitch. And good mates with Dele and the rest of the lads.

So in that way, he is kind of the glue to the side. Keeps it all together and functioning. And that is exactly what we need to keep if we are going to build on the success of the last two seasons.

It'll be suicidal to sell our core players, Dier is one of those core players along with Alli Eriksen Kane Alderweireld Vertonghen Rose Lloris Lamela imo Walker however the latter is now debatable.

Why would he consider playing Europa League for a bellend like Mourinho when he can CL for Poch? It's not like he can't afford beans on his toast.

It really annoys me they keep reporting DL said no pay rises next season, he said they were all on long term contracts he expected to be honoured and they wouldn't have a reduction if things had gone badly.
Press wind me up, with poor reporting and selling all our players

Its like one of my old Gran's
loose knit jumpers.
Pull on one thread and the whole thing unravels.
And that's ITK,
I wore them for years.

Any thing from the press and social media are just noise. It's behind the scene that counts. Any while Levy is notoriously tight fisted, he realizes that in order to maintain a high standard of play, which will translate to monetary profits, he needs to keep the players together. It's how he negotiates with the players and the manager, in terms of wages, one on one, behind the glare of the media, that will ultimately defines the ambition of the club. And so far, he has done a marvellous job.

I don't believe that for a second, because only in February Jose Mourinho said :
"Football has changed in the three years since Sir Alex Ferguson retired…This is the new football,” Mourinho told reporters.
"Do you think I can go to Tottenham and buy two players to kill Tottenham? I can't. I cannot go to Arsenal and buy their two best players, or go to Chelsea and bring two of the players that I love very, very much. That time is over.

Dier for me is possibly the most expedient of our squad. In fact if the money was edging towards 50 million i'd sell him. He is not a shoe in now for either center back or midfield and has cost us goals this season (the WH one being a prime example) of lack of concentration at critical moments. Wycombe, Liverpool and in the CL and EL he has come up short.

He maybe a crowd favorite but he's far from being the hub of this team.

You'd sell him despite knowing he will improve?

I've only managed to work in my
'Dier was Dire' joke twice in two seasons.
He is integral to the team with his flexibility,
he's young and still coachable to the next level
and most importantly he makes Dele laugh.
No deal.

If we look at the improvement of players under Poch, the Dier we have now, compared to the Dier we had two seasons ago, is a much better player, he is still a young player, if he continues to improve, in a further two years, he could be a great player.

We should keep hold of him if we can.

He's far from being at his peak as well. He's the one that enables us to change formation and tactics at will which has caused opponents so many problems. I think he's vital to our continued success, which we will need in order to hang onto our other players.

.
Not quite sure I get this Gaz.
Aren't the things that make him a crowd favourite
the things that make him important to the team'.
Why if he is dispensable is he a crowd favourite.
Not sure anyone is the 'hub'.
Eriksen possibly.

I think a lot of people on here are forgetting how young so many of our players are. We have the youngest team in the league and the younger players will improve until they get the their late 20's. Some of them will still improve with the right coach. Eric Dier is only 23, he can play RB, CB and DM, all of them to a good PL standard at the very least. That added to his attitude being a bit of a comedian makes him a crucial member of the squad. That's not to say he is irreplaceable, he is, but not for £50m or anything like it.
