Personally, I think it was a great idea. Especially if it was sprung as a surprise. It would have been a laugh, fun and would have given the lads a taste of competitiveness, which is always useful in football.
I mean let's be honest, it was karting, not judo. The chances of injury were fairly small.
Agree with Rez. The management probably felt that all the hard arse training was starting to get to the lads and they needed some fun. No more risky than the white water rafting a few years back and a lot less so than playing against Robbie Savage. You can't wrap them all in cotton wool.
Interesting to see Alvares finished 2nd - he's a competitive bastard isn't he? Must be good for the players to have a coach like that.
ha ha much more likely to twist, pull or break summit in training than riding a 30mph cart with roll bars, crash helemts and walls made of tyres.
The constant jarring and vibrating on the knee might make ledley think twice about participating. But that would be to protect of a current vulnerable spot. Players with good knees wouldn't suddenly get bad ones through go-karting.
More likely, as i said, to damamge a knee running on the beach or over undulations on golf courses.
