We need to get the easiest route to the final possible. I can't see us in our current form getting past any well organised team with a decent attack.

No point meeting the weak teams first, then meet the strong teams later. Might as well meet the strong teams now. If we win, excellent, but if we lose, then it makes no difference whether we meet them now or later. At least we get it over and done with now rather than later.

If we cant beat them now, then chances are we won't be able to beat them in the later stages, especially with our penchant for stage fright in the final stages
I feel like come the latter stages we may have players like Bale even more up to speed, Gio Lo Celso back in the team at no.10 if Dele doesn’t keep up his turn in form. Aurier will need some time to get back sharp again too. We could do with a soft draw at the moment i think

But that's a debate for another thread.....

Agreed.

I'd rather skank our way to a final win and back into the CL. We need the money!
True but whilst it wouldn't be the same as the UEFA cup win of '84, it is still a European trophy and whilst it might not mean as much to some teams in Europe that have won it loads of times or have won the CL, it would still be a brilliant achievement for us.

While Bale and Dele are still getting back into the team, son out of form and Lo Celso not back yet. An easier draw would be good.
I'm sure we will still have issues at CB...

I tend to agree with the other poster about meeting a strong team now but I keep hoping for a turnround of form rather than the useless mob who got outfoxed by the mighty Potter and who fell for the old West Ham rope-a-dope trick

Let’s hope we get the lowest ranked side in the competition again. As for the last three months we have been unable to even draw against a top ten Premier League side we need to a avoid them as well as Rangers and in facts apart from Molde or Granada we won’t want to play anyone.

It's always better to get the easier teams now and hope that the draw puts together some of the other stronger teams in other fixtures so that a few big guns are taken out of the comp by the next round.

Not being funny but winning EL is as much about luck as it is being properly good. We've played a huge amount of games even to this point so an easy route is always preferred.

What makes you think Granada will be easy?

I think most, if not all, teams want to avoid a team with Son, Kane, Bale, Ndombele, Reguillon etc. in it.

On the other hand they cant wait to play against a team with davies docherty winks and sissoko in it ohh and dier Toby sanchez ....
Feck me that list is longer than I realised it would be (n)

We certainly have got weaknesses, like any other team left in the EL, but also quite a few players who can produce something special. And that's what could make all the difference in the knockout stage.

What a load of bollocks. We can put Reggie, Toby, Japhet and Serge out there. A lot of teams would long for that as a defensive line.

Not if Winks, Sissoko, Doherty, Dier or Sanchez are behind those players, mate.
Most of those players won't even play when it really matters. You can mention weak links in any team left in the competition as the likes of Bayern and Man. City are in the CL not the EL, but the fact is that we have got one of the strongest teams, including a couple of world-class players who are capable of producing something special at any given moment.

If we're running scared of Rangers then things really have got bad!
