I don't know if it's an issue, but Romero would need to sign for Atalanta before they could sell to us. I don't know whether his wages have been set as part of that deal, but they'd surely be way lower than we're offering, and signing up for that could be risky for Romero in case Atalanta then pull the plug. I guess all that sort of thing has to be contractually agreed as part of this deal so that such a risk is fully mitigated but it makes the whole thing messy. Atalanta seem to be making a proper pig's ear of the negotiations though if they're constantly bumping the price.

this deal doesn't exactly reflect very well on paratici does it?

so he signed him for €26m in 2019, effectively sold him in 2020 for €16m and now in 2021 is trying to sign him again for over €50m?

They've had plenty long enough. Feel like they've dicked us around too much already. Shame as he seems an elite CB but there's other solid options out there for a fraction of the price.

I think Atalanta have played a bit of a blinder, we are pretty desperate so thebare trying to squeeze as much as they can out of the deal and it looks like we are buckling under the pressure.

Kind of, but if the deal falls through and they don't get anyone near our bid they've screwed up, and if they don't sell he might try to force his way out in January which could cost them big time. They're getting money for nothing as things stand and are looking a gift horse in the mouth IMO. We undoubtedly have other irons in the fire too.

I don't think it will fall through though, we've increased our bid a few times and they know we are in desperate need of a CB, he's definitely the no1 choice for us.

I think it's unlikely, but then again I don't know who else Paratici has lined up. Might be someone highly rated who's completely out of left field.

We want Romero they want a replacement first, why don't we sweeten the deal with either Sanchez or Dier plus say 10 mil? Then everybodys happy. Seems a no brainer to me.

We've probably tried that and they didn't bite. They're both on big wages too.

Dier and Sanchez both earn over double Romero's wages, so even if one of them agreed to that move (I highly doubt Dier would), do you really think Atalanta could afford his wages?

Bearing in mind how long this has been going on, I’d be amazed if they haven’t been looking at replacements and working on deals for weeks.
