Such a shame - one of the players I was looking forward to seeing. Leaves Sanchez, Carter-Vickers and Eyoma as the three CBs on tour. Be surprised if we didn’t see one of the young midfielders feature in defence now - Marsh, Amos or Skipp most likely.

We'll most likely see Davies as a CB and KWP& Georgiou featuring at the LB position. Aurier and Sissoko will cover the RB position.

what pointless friendlies these are turning out to be. Players played out of position. Get 15 million quid for doing it though I guess.

They are always pointless from a sporting point of view. All about money and players getting fit.

How is it possibly pointless? You have to do a pre season may as well get £15m for doing it. Raising profile in states and player fitness and a chance to get a look at some kids.

been on their site and can't see anything advertising the game (or any of the ICC games):(

might have to settle for a stream, hopefully one without US commentary

Not sure if you can get the channel in OZ, but I've posted in the "football on TV heads up" thread regarding a tv channel that is showing full match highlights of all the ICC games.

From a preparation point of view, this is in no way the optimum way of getting them ready. It cant be, time/days lost to multiple flights/travel to various destinations and the PR stuff along with it etc. If it was all about preparing for the new season, drilling players to the last detail (whether that be physical, mental, tactical, technical, set pieces etc) they'd be holed up at Hotspur Way. They even have that new accommodation block for down time, relaxing, rest, bonding sessions as a group etc. to make use of.

Then you have certain individuals, for instance the likes of Eriksen, Sanchez and Son, who have been playing football and travelling all summer, had minimal rest and are then asked straight away to get back and immediately do some more of the same. The latter two mentioned were also looking pretty weary at the end of last season, before this busy summer, and Son has yet more globe trotting to do in the next few weeks. Professional athletes or not, that cant be the most sensible of schedules in the longer term.

All the clubs are seemingly prepared to make a bit of a trade off with the PR/marketing factors and chasing the dollars, but I don't personally believe this jamboree of exhibition matches across the globe is the best way of getting the team or players ready for a new season.

Continuing the pointless argument. It is actually a competition to win with 18 of best club teams in Europe and team with best record after x3 games wins it. Ok not a major trophy, but would still be quite a prestigious tournament to win imo.
