I hope this hasn't been done before and if it has i'll remove it, but I was talking to a fellow Spurs fan today about our all time best 11 for the history of the Premiership after seeing that the OS site were doing something similar http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/spurs/News/xtra-all-time-pl-team-strikers-vote-05072012.page.

I think it's a tough call on who would make it as we've had some good players especially more recently. Would you have Bale or Ginola? Anderton or Lennon? Who would get the keeper spot as no one has pulled up trees in that spot, even though Lloris has the potential. Would you leave out Defoe and Keane two of our best all time scorers? What about other legends like Sheringham or Klinsmann? Then theres also Berbatov. Would Parker get the nod as the combative midfielder even though he's only had one season at us?

My initial thought would be

Robinson

Carr King Campbell Ekotto

Anderton Parker Modric Ginola

Van Der Vaart

Klinsmann

As long as Jürgen and Ledley are there I'm happy.

Edit: Oh, and Mabbutt. Can't leave Mabbutt out of the team. And Jol as manager.

I think our current best XI is actually fairly close to anything you could have.

We've had some shining stars over the years which scattered in may work, but Ginola clearly thinks Bale may be as good as him. There's only one or two I think who are so good they could claim a stake to ousting someone from our current best XI.

Klinsmann, Modric and Ledley would have to be in there, but beyond that I'm optimistic that this bunch of lads can go on to prove they are our best group we've had.

Lloris
Carr King Campbell Ziege
Bale Modric Carrick Ginola
Ade Berba

Or alternatively 4 Kings at the back, 3 Kings in MF and Gionla, Modric, Berba

Lloris

Carr King Campbell Ziege

VDV Carrick Modric Bale

Klinsmann Sheringham

That team would get well and truly thrashed but hey I like it anyway!

Great thread. I've done this on their best performances I've seen.

It was tough on Jenas. But I would bring him on at half time. Dozzell would be on at 60mins

Hard to pick really. From what I've seen so far Lloris is by far the best keeper we've had, but there's still plenty of time for him to change that. Not that I think he will, but it kinda feels a bit early to put him in a Best XI. I can't get myself to put Judas in my team either, so I'll have to go with Kaboul who I think is probably one of the best CBs to ever have played for us. Some players will have to play out of position as well.. :)

Robinson
Carr - King - Kaboul - Bale
VDV - Carrick - Modric - Ginola
Sheringham - Klinsmann

Many players that could have made the team I guess, like Dawson, Berbatov, BAE, Anderton, and I've always had a soft spot for Mabbutt as well.

Nice! But I'd maybe swap The Beast, or even Lloris for Teddy - then it would be a true Ossie team.

Robinson - He was shit in the end, but that season he was immense. I remember him being linked to Barca at one stage. He also was so popular and a proper Spurs man.
Carr - Had a few good seasons with us and was one of our better players during a dreadful period.
King - Mr. Tottenham
Judas **** - Pains me to put him in, but as a defender he was on a par with Ledley almost
Assou-Ekotto - He's been great for us. I'd put Bale there, but if we're talking about a realistic team, then Bale can't play LB.
Bale - He's going to have to make do with a right wing position!
Carrick - He was great for us. I think we were happy to see him replaced by £18m at the time, but we soon realised how good he was.
Modric - Magician.
Ginola - Amazing player.
Keane - Our main man for many years. Nearest thing to a Spurs legend in a long time, without probably managing legend status.
Sheringham - Brilliant player, so clever, would have formed a great partnership with Keano I think.

Vertonghen? You could argue his exclusion from our current XI, never mind an all time XI! Surely Kaboul would come before him?

Not saying I disagree with you, but everyone's entitled to their opinion.

Threads like this are usually more fun when people are allowed to state their subjective opinion without everyone trying to prove them wrong. :)

Much as I loved Robinson, Lloris looks like the complete package.
Sandro is brilliant, but does anyone remember how much possession Mabbutt used to give us?
Bale will have to play wide left to accommodate Ginola

Lloris
Carr King Vertonghen BAE
Bale Mabbutt Modric Ginola
VDV
Klinsmann

Subs: Robinson, Judas, Ziege, Dembele, Sandro, Keane, Sheringham
