Not sure how brinkmanship works with Schniederlin given that Soton do not want to sell. In past seasons when we have been in Soton's situation we have used the other club's determination to push the price up.
I hope we have a Plan B, and it is not another 'Moutinho or no-one' situation. And I sure as hell hope the article is wrong about us being prepared to listen to offers for Etienne Capoue, what with him being the closest to a Schniederlin that we have.
Musachio is starting to look too difficult and too expensive, and if he is all he is cracked up to be there is the risk of someone else nipping in and nabbing him. Another case where alternatives are being snapped up and we could be left with no-one; we probably should not be thinking of selling Dawson or any other centre half until we have landed someone.
I read something the other day re: Schniederlin that said because Soton's chairman promised fans he'd be with the club at the start of the season, he wants to prove a point by doing just that... Then sell him after first game. Silly if true but stranger things have happened
The people running the club always seem to be prepared to write off valuable points at the start of the season by not recruiting and/or keeping the players we need. I know its not a clear cut case and lots of things happen when it comes to transfers but still, we never seem to learn.
I'm always bemused at the way so many of us post things as fact regarding our transfer strategy, but if we all put our hands on our hearts, we'd have to admit, we don't know anything for shit. We only know what we're told, which never amounts to very much, and from the little we get to hear, we make up our own minds about what must really be going on.
I'm always very grateful to ITK's (the real ones of course. I say this because there are plenty of chancers and liars out there).
Personally, I'm happy to admit I have no idea what goes on behind the scenes, or inside Daniel Levy's or Franco Baldini's head, and I'm not sure I'd like to speculate about either, but I have to say, it's all wildly entertaining reading the posts of those who believe they know what they're talking about but probably don't.
It's all good clean fun and I love it.

It's all a masquerade.
Poch wants a player that levy doesn't and probably thinks is too expensive.
Levy keeps offering below the selling clubs validation.
Levy then decides to wait until the last minute to make another low offer under the pretence the player wants to join spurs and the selling club now need to accept his offer.
But they don't.
Levy gets out of the transfer on the basis the deal was "complicated"
The fans all get excited because we tried to sign X superstar. The manager is, for the sort term, happy levy tried.
It's happened so many times it can't be coincidence.
