Tottenham Hotspur have no plans to change manager Mauricio Pochettino’s job title, despite the Argentine’s surprise suggestion that he should revert back to being the club’s head coach.

There was definite frustration in Poch's statements and demeanour in the press conference. Largely it was due to being asked the same questions over and over again. Also, most people attributed it to the slowness of the deals getting done. However, it is puzzling to see why, out of nowhere, Danny Rose is close to leaving the club. When Poch came in 5 years ago, Rose was booed by a section of the supporters. Poch took him under his wings and Danny's improvement over the next 12 months was nothing short of spectacular. He was easily one of our best players in the Champions League finals. But Danny also talks a lot, and, I may be wrong in this -- I have no insider info -- Danny might have said something that rubbed Levy the wrong way. Hence Levy wants Rose out, which Poch does not agree with. This scenario of course is speculation on my part. Hopefully, Poch and Levy will sort things out. Most fans will agree Danny is required in the upcoming season. And if we can get a couple of good signings before the window closes, then all the frustrations will be forgotten.

I am more inclined to believe that Poch is the main factor in wanting Danny out. Well, other than his age and the policy of getting a decent return on him from a club like Everton to be reinvested in a younger prospect.

As to Poch wanting him out, Poch likes to run a motivated, tight-knit group and Danny’s tendency to speak out goes against that philosophy.

Anyhow, if he stays and performs as well as he has been then I don’t think anyone will have complaints.
