Weird question - does anyone know why 'Spurs' seems to be getting pushed as a semi-official name for us now? I noticed it on the latest edition of FIFA, getting annoyed that we didn't seem to be in the game when I first started playing before eventually finding us under S, and now having logged into the official Premier League Fantasy Football website I see that we're listed as Spurs there, too.

Is this the club's decision? I can't get my head around why this would happen if so - not that it's a huge issue of course, but I do find it quite odd. Alternatively, is it the PL pushing this name change? If so, why?

I wouldn't have thought it's the club given that we seem to be putting a lot of effort into breaking into the US market and being known as Spurs may see confusion arise due to San Antonio Spurs NBA team.

Google says they aren't bothered.

No other reason or motive other than just plain laziness in my opinion

I wouldn't be surprised if there's something in that. Of course we wouldn't rebrand but the pushing of Spurs as a more catchy international brand.

Certainly EA can't just change us from Tottenham to Spurs without clearing every stage with the club. They work incredibly closely with them, it's a major revenue stream and way of engaging kids in a club.

Globally, no one knows where Tottenham is. They know where London is. Tottenham Hotspur is unwieldy, Spurs translates wherever it is.

Becomes like Inter, Ajax or Juve. Transcends the place. Or something.

But many won't like that and think I've gone a bit "Harry Hotspur"
