He scored some good goals but so did Tomáš Pekhart a player who had a reputation but like Coulibaly was never going to make it with us.
I watched Coulibaly at the world cup and he was partly scouted because he had an amazing performance against Brazil he looked brilliant in that one game, looked a really complete player in that one game as the Ivory coast team wasn't good but he got them a draw by himself

As for him with us, he struggled to settle down and his development was handled poorly and it affected Coulthirst's development as well

What young players have we recruited outside of Europe? from memory, it's just Rodrigo Defendi isn't it?

Kumalo Bongani, Mbuelo Mabizela, kazuyuki toda, Espen Baardsen...... That's all I can think of!

Edit: I guess Bongani wasn't young really.

Bohani was 24, Mabizela was 23, Toda was 26. I think Baardsen was just bought as back up rather than a prospect.

To be honest we don't have much success with recruiting foreign young players outside of Europe. It must be hard to adjust especially from places like Africa. The weathers polar opposite, foods different, laugauge, culture, your proberly suddenly playing against kids who are a lot better. Language again must be a huge problem even accents, time difference the pitches are probably faster.

Money, lots of money, slow horse, fast women, and white powder (make a good book title for an autobiography).

Though IF Yahaya joins he may buck the trend

What I've seen of him I really do think he has a lot of potential, he's not too muscular or physically greater than anybody else when I've seen him play (in the world cup) and used purely skill to get passed players

Don't remember Peckhart much tbh but agree Coulibaly didn't have enough.

Also and I thought it was worth mentioning in here, I saw a piece of ITK posted from @Blake Griffin from another forum that a fan had a conversation from Lamela and he said that Edwards will be a star. I wonder if he is training with the first team now or Lamela was just watching some games or training sessions. Either way, it's a positive review.

I was wondering that too, though I think 1st team players will often hang around and watch the youngsters train/play so that's probably how lamela knows about edwards rather than having trained with him.

Don't get technical :) I fucking hate smart ares lol

There have been a few I don't think we have excelled in foreign players bents a side, milos has not made a first team Impact. I just said outside of Europe to cover my arse France is not to far it's proberly same distance for bents as Scotland for ball
And oduwa.

Though IF Yahaya joins he may buck the trend

Let's hope if he gets a flight over

Yes, Bruno Uvini. I didn't count him though as it was only a loan and he was already 21, so isn't exactly going into the academy.

Also, just remembered Lunogo, who I would say was a relative success, Tom Glover, who is doing well & Giancarlo Gallifuoco.

Lol, was a genuine question. I think your being unfair on Milos, as he is still 19 (how old was Mason before he made an impact and he was very highly rated in the academy) nad I think if he signed a new contract he would make an impact.

See my reply to Beats, I have though of 3 more anyway.

Just looking at some of the old names bandied about just goes to show how good our youth is now, Neale Fenn a player that used to drive me mad,he was happy to get paid to play reserve football but for some strange reason Spurs always gave him a new contract leaving me having to watch him every week..

I am disappointed we didnt sign Ryan but I don't really rate any of our keepers, the scholars interest me but if they want to be top keepers they can't be playing youth football.

IMO a goalkeeper needs to be playing real football at a young age otherwise you never are really sure. I don't like the internal progression of keepers. IMO it has to be done outside and even then it is hard to tell

Look at youth goalkeepers all across this country a lot of players got success after leaving their academy like Forster, Foster, Schmeichel, Hart(he was signed by City but he progressed away from the club) and etc.

We have to face the reality that we be able to get a keeper like Lloris again as other clubs will pip, so imo we should be looking at young keepers now. Potentially Glover and Whiteman are options but imo both need to be loaned out as soon as possible

we are completely on the same page, i think Milos would play and make an impact if he signs a new contract.

City's academy took a blow in CFG's quest to keep Viera from Arsenal as they promoted him to manager of MCFC B NYCFC in MLS. City has a very good academy but they dont utalize it. Thats a major difference between us and City

CCV called back into the US u23's. His CB parter was called into the full squad but WC vet John Brooks from Hertha Berlin will be his partner this time and they'll probably shift CCV to RCB.

Anybody needing a football fix for Saturday should go to the Spurs u18s away to Fulham at Motspur Park, this will be a blinding game they beat us 3-0 back in September and are physically the strongest side we have played this season but also play good football. We had a lot of important players missing that day and i am hoping we have a very strong team out for this one.
