Great to see my mate Elliot Lee on the scoresheet.

Even better to see him on the losing team :sneaky:

He was pretty good, unlucky not to score another.
West ham were pretty good to be fair, think they won there group and some of there players have played for the first team this season.

I know an interesting story about Dean Parrett, you can take it with a pinch of salt if you want. Apparently Dean was really impressing whilst on loan at Charlton there and putting huge efforts in at training. Management thought extremely highly of him and Spurs heard about this.
Apparently a few of the senior pro's at Charlton didn't take too kindly to Dean showing them up in training. A few of the French boys collared him in the shower and told him he had to stop otherwise there would be consequences. Never the same player after that, unsurprisingly as a young lad an incident like that is bound to have some effect.

As I said, take this with a pinch of salt but this comes from an extremely reliable source at Charlton. Could explain his failure to develop to his full potential.

i believed it until you said that the French were in the shower!

Not to mention we let Peter Crouch go at 19, he certainly made a career for himself.

...and Andros Townsend at QPR faced Mark Bunn in the Norwich goal who Spurs let go at age 16 (not a famous career but to get to the Premiership as a back up goalie is not that bad).

EL squad published today http://www.uefa.com/uefaeuropaleague/season=2013/clubs/club=1652/index.html

UEFA Regs say :

18.17 For all matches from the start of the round of 32, a club may register a
maximum of three new eligible players for the remaining matches in the
current competition. Such registration must be completed by 1 February
2011 (24.00 CET) at the latest. This deadline cannot be extended. 27

It looks like Lewis Holtby, Cristian Ceballos and Nabil Bentelab have been the 3 players added as List A, so probably Massimo Luongo and Zeki Fryers wiill be loaned out, otherwise I would have thought they would have been added rather than Ceballos and Bentelab (all are u 21 but cannot be on List B as they have not been at Spurs long enough - List B can be amended up to 24 hours before a match, whilst List A must be submitted by February 1)

Interesting these did make the squad list

I would be happy for Obika, Luongo and Fryers all go on championship loans(fryers may not be ready for this level though(not seen much of him tbh))

The loan window does open on Friday so hopefully we announce the loans quickly if they do go of course, though unlikely tbh

Yup, but mixed signals for Obika - included on PL list of 25 but not EL.

However it probably makes sense to keep Harry Kane at Spurs and play him from the bench (he can be added to EL on List B up to 24 hours before a match) - IMO not much sense in sending him to Championship after 'getting the Tshirt' with Milwall last season nor to the leagues still open (Russia/Austraila etc). So if Kane stays, Obika could go to a Championship side.

Very surprising to see Bentalab added not just in front of Obika, Luongo and Fryers, but also Hall, Veljkovic and Gallifuoco, all of whom have seen far more action with the U21s.

Do all Bostock's loans mean he needs to be registered for the A list?

Bostock - last year he had to be a player on List A due to looans if you recall and I cannot see anything has changed. IMO he is ioff at the end of his ciontract anyway (which is June 2013).

Agreed re Bentelab. As previously posted it could well be a sign that Obika, Luongo and Fryers will go out on loan, hence they wre not included. Hall has played for u21's adequately, but maybe Hall has not shown too much and they see Bentelab as being a better long term prospect. Veljkovic being overlooked for Bentelab is much more of a surprise after being fantastic last season in NextGen - but he is a year younger than Bentelab, maybe that swung it, or maybe Veljkovic will get to sit on a PL bench instead. Galifiucco hadn't done too much of note until yesterday, so maybe that's the reason for being overlooked.

But in summary, both Bentelab and Ceballos being included was a surprise

I actually like both Bentelab and Cebellos they both look decent going forward and with Cebellos it would interesting how he turns out as he was a player didnt think, he would do much tbh

2-1 win last night against Czech Republic u19s . Scored 1.

Expand

Another good showing from him according to RoI fans.

Kennethh McEvoy is a pacy tricky winger, right sided but think can also play on left. Played in u 19 NextGen v Barcelona (both legs) but not a regular at that level yet - imo he could come into the side assuming Pritchard cannot play whilst he is on loan at P'boro. However there are several alternatives - Spurs have a good array of talent to choose from these days.

Interesting to see if he gets in any of the NextGen sides. Pace is a priceless commodity.

Spursidol - what do you think of Adam Smith's chances of making it at Spurs? He seems to have stepped up a notch this season. But he clearly has a lot to do to get into the first team reckoning at Spurs, with Walker and Naughton ahead of him at the mo...

Its a very tough call. IMO Smith was ready for a Prem loan even last season - but didn't have the Championship experience to back that up, after Leeds decided to throw out all loanees after Neil Warnock arrived (it was Grayson who arranged the loan just before he was sacked).

I fear that he needs to get a Prem loan before AVB (and possibly fans) will accept him - which I think means that the first half of next season, or even the full season he will be on loan. Ideally it would have been the 2nd half of this season, but that's not to be.

After a Prem loan, its then a 3 way race between Walker, Naughton and Smith on both value if we sell (to realise cash to reinforce other positions) and skill/experience levels.

IMO, Smith looks very good but even after a Prem loan he will have less experience. However provided Spurs could sell Naughton fior say £5m (as an experienced RB/LB) imo it would make sense for Smith to stay as Walker's backup and we see how things go from there.

Long term I am pretty sure Smith can do a good job as a Prem RB - but its just not possible to tell whether he goes on to become a superstar or just a decent RB.

But its a good position foir Spurs to be in with 3 RB choices

Thanks. I think you're right.

It reminds me a little of Luke Young and Stephen Kelly, both of whom could have gone on to greatness or mediocrity and ended up somewhere in the middle, but at another club.

There is something of the Steve Carrs about Smith, to me, though. Completely different body shape! But the quickness of thought and attacking intent (and crossing ability) all make me think of Carr. Carr had to brush up on his defensive awareness before he cracked it. Perhaps that is what is missing in Smith, which he needs experience to get... and that takes us back to what you were saying...

Like you say, either way, I guess it's a good position to have three RBs with potential.

All good comparisons. IMO Smith could be better at crossing than either Walker or Naughton, but possibly Walker will always be faster than either of the other two.

I always had great hopes for Young and Kelly, but as you say, both turned out to be decent but not quite as good as had been hoped for them both.

Spurs are one of the teams invited for this years AEGON Future Cup. It's an International youth tournament for U17's hosted by Ajax.

2 more clubs will be unveiled, but the other clubs who have been confirmed already are Barcelona, Bayern Munchen, Anderlecht and Toronto FC.

Ajax won the final last year against Manchester United.

Benfica has been added to the list. Last club to be announced will most likely be Milan.

Thanks. Should be a good tournament.

It'll probably be a similar squad that Spurs sent to the Milk Cup as its an under 17 tournament, although I couldn't spot the tournament rules on the Ajax site to tell us the cut off date for player age (its often the players being under 17 on 1 January in the year the season starts - but this tournament is relatively late in the season so it might be a later cut off date).
