That was the worst performance I have seen in a long time.

And to think that some of them were playing for the right to wear the shirt next season.

Worse than the Barcodes? Well, I suppose the result was better.

Funny, it seems only yesterday that crap performances were all the manager's fault.

:shhh: You blasphemer. How dare you suggest it's anything but, the players fault now.

Once again we started very well then we were hanging on. Thought Lennon had a good game - was certainly involved in most of the action. But we are slowly creeping up on West Spam - 3pts behind and cant remember when we were that close. We have a better goal difference and we both play 2 home and 2 away games. 10th and the carling cup, considering the change of management would be seen as a decent season

If you had offered 10th with the carling cup and a change of management at the start of the season I would have laughed at you. There is no way this can be considered a decent season. That is setting our standards far too low.

I think it's been a very good season - we've won our 17th trophy - we have now won trophies for six succesive decades only Man U can say the same - it's an acheivement that neither AFC Pool or CFc can match - and Villa have only one left season left to do so

it's a season on top of the last 2 that has confirmed us as the 5th best club in the country - as well as the 5th best club in the last 10 years

I look forward to something good next season to confirm us as the 5th best club of the decade

Ramos got it so wrong today. Little doubts are starting to emerge in my mind Lennon was having his best game for some time playing on the right. Why change it and stick him on the left..Then compound it by taking him off completely. Malbranque was doing not to bad, not great, but O.K. The game was played mainly at a very fast tempo, completely unsuited to Huddlestone, but he was brought on for Malbranque. So a wide player for a central midfielder, Then Lennon comes off for Bent , so we end up with 3 forwards, and no wide men. We finish the game hanging on, with no shape and no bloody ideas. I will be hoping for something a bit more from Ramos than just making changes because he thinks he should give them a game. Or am I just over reacting, because we came within a whisker of losing yet another game we should in all honesty have won. Top 4 next season,? give me a break. I am trying to stay positive but today was dire. God knows what my reaction would have been had we lost.

To be honest, I don't think Ramos is going to get a lot more out of the team he insists on fielding week after week. He might as well try some other players in preperation for pre-season/next season.

If a team doesn't work consistently for this long, you fucking change it. I'm starting to realise what a fucking fluke it was that we won the Carling Cup. In all honestly, I haven't been as impressed with Ramos as I would have liked to have been, CC or no CC. Hopefully when he gets a chance to make some more signings he'll chamge my opinion.

I think Ramos' team selection is dictated somewhat by what will happen in the summer. Players he doesn't rate in the stiffs don't need playing time as other clubs already know they are out of favour - not much price negotiation to be had here. Berbatov and Chimbonda are likely to leave, Ramos would probably like to plan without these but dropping them, possibly resulting in some player backchat in the press, would allow any potential buyers to negotiate the price down.

I would imagine these 2 alone would fetch a combined £35million - a lot of money to spend in the summer. I am sure Ramos knows exactly who he wants - the deals could even be in place - and I expect we will have a complete new midfield next season.

I can't even be bothered watching Soccer Saturday anymore, and there is no England in Europe to look forward to this summer so that's the end of the season for me, roll on Aug 2008 - next season will be better!

Big thrills. Whoopydoop. And we managed four points from the corresponding four fixtures last season.

I think we're safe from the drop so it is indeed a proud day to bring out a new dvd in the club shop.

Yep i thought ramos got it very wrong in the second half. Took both wide men off and bought on Hudd ffs. I dont understand why he had to make any subs, we were in control of the game. I think he thinks you have to use 3 subs every game. If it aint broken dont fix it!

Lennon played very well, steed looked ok, so good in defense. Berbs went off the boil in the second half because we had no width and he got no service. We lost our outlets when steed and lennon went off.

Hudd was awful, and jenas was completely wasted on the right. I think he touched the ball about 3 times when he moved to the right.

The players have to take blame too though, after we scored it was all flicks, and tricks like we were winning 4-0 or something. That tends to be happening alot lately. Score another goal or two and then the tricks can come out.

Shit season!

Agree with all of that apart from the last sentence. After Hudd came on for Malbranque and Lennon was shifted over to the left, Boro brought on Johnson for Grounds moving Downing to left-back. At that stage it would have been sensible to move Lennon back over to the right where he'd been having his best game in ages. Instead he came off for a third striker and any attacking impetus we had disappeared. I do think Ramos got it wrong today. Ah well - this is the time to experiment I suppose.

And definitely not a shit season. What with the Cup win and all!

well having finally seen the game - I can imagine watching at home and watching it at the Lane were very different experiences

I absolutely sympathise with those who paid a stack of money and felt that wasn't good enough

watching it from home it was a good entertaining match played in the right spirit - illuminated by some superb skills from Berbs yet again - some great play from Lennon and a good performance by Daws (I thought he should have been 'rested' - I was wrong)

It's been a successful season - and barring disasters nothing's going to change that now - for me it's been a very good season - because I prize cups very very highly and I also love watching Berbs and quite a few our other players - there are still very few clubs in the country who better the skills & technique we show week in week out

of course next season we want more - especially in terms of the league - indeed now we've got our trophy for the decade next season will be mainly about the lge for me - tho would luv a cup too :)
