From the Big Match revisited, an FA Cup tie at the Lane....how times have changed but should be an eye opener for some of our younger fans...

I saw that one recently - really enjoyed watching it

nice to see Hod in action again and an Ardilles headed goal!!!

the glass beer bottle thrown on the pitch over the fences reminds us of how some things have changed

people drink from cans these days :)

I remember that game. Chris Jones had a perfectly good goal disaalowed for a non-existent push on Gary Bailey. He wasn't even within 5 yards of him. Same old same old!

Thanks for that, enjoyed watching it. Apart from some of the more well known players I don't really know much of our history before about 89. Apart from the double sides of course!

Anybody here go to that game?

Me. I was there. Didn't go to the replay though.

We had them the following year as well, drew at WHL but another superb goal by Ardiles at O.T. sent us through to the 4th rd against the mighty Swindon (away) -but thats another story.

Could you imagine it now if we had a defence that consisted of Naylor, Holmes, Lacy and McCallister. How times have changed. Footballers those days looked like any Tom, Dick or Harry. No flash hair cuts, ear rings or tattoos. In fact Naylor looked like he'd just finished the morning shift on the number 49 bus.

Terry (Nutty) Naylor was a Islington lad, a workmate of mine in the 70's knew him from school, eventually when Tel packed up pro football he worked with my mate for the Post Office in Mount Pleasant down the back of the Angel sorting the mail.

Yes I went, and I went to the replay too. On an ordinary National coach as I recall, not a special. Can't remember much about it but we got knocked out. Was it the following year we won up there with 10 men and Hoddle in goal, Ossie scoring a sublime winner in extra time. Pretty sure it was. Yes it was....

Remember the day well was in the cage but don't remember too much about the match.
Saw it recently on ITV4 and not only the dis-allowed goal but 2 good penalty shouts. Things never change against the Mancs.

I was only 3 at the time, but i've forwarded this on to all people on other forums who can't understand why Spurs are my English team. Wasn't old enough to remember this game, but I remember seeing a few great games, though English football wasn't shown as much back then.

Remember those good old days. 51,800 packed in to WHL and still a huge empty space in the corner to keep the supporters apart.

Brought back bad memories of watching John Pratt......my 70's version of Zoko pops!
