hahaha.

uhhh, the defoe header, great shot that james saved greatly.
If you don't know.....don't post

He had a great chance in the first half when he didn't even hit the goal

And sure, continue to be impressed by Lennon, to bad that it won't help us a bit. You actually mean that you can't see that he doesn't produce anything in the end  Poor finishing, poor passing and poor crosses. I like him but soon he has to start to deliver an end product.

several points to make here

Bale was not half as bad as people are making him out to be, he looked ok in defence and tried to get forward to support O'Hara couldnt have asked for much more from him tbh, he is clearly out of form and just needs a confidence boost...

King being unlucky with an injury didn't nearly cost us a goal, it was a whole team problem as the ball should have been kicked out so he could be replaced....

Lennon did provide end product, he hit a few good shots which needed decent saves and his crosses did find a man most of the time (or at least should have been met by someone) which is credible especially when you consider we had Defoe and bent as our front 2

Defoe was very average today, he made himself a nuisance and chipped in with the goal but generally he was wasteful

Pav was a handful till he went off, if we had got the ball through to him more he would have scored

Zokora did ok today, but the marks ranging from sublime to shit are crazy, in truth he did very little bar filling in as defenders moved forwards which isnt a bad thing now is it... But you have to recognise we looked week in the centre of the park yesterday and we shouldnt have considering Zokora is seen as a DM

He had a good first half hour. Went to pieces a bit after that though. Twice committed himself, got nowhere near the ball and allowed the attacker to walk right past him. Once is forgiveable, but you can't really make the same mistake twice in one match.

Apart from the pass forward to Modric which he set up the goal from, right? Also, can we just clarify that Pavlyuchenko was shit before he went off? ALSO, I don't get where some of you are coming from on Gomes. He had about 3 things to do the whole match, and he fucked one of them up.

Sorry Zapsta, whilst i acknowledge zokora's input into the goal, and that he does have some very good attributes, making decisive key passes and being a goal threat are not one of them. Quite frankly i wish they were, cos if he did have those, he would be up there with gerrard in my opinion.

I can partially see where you are coming from with pav, but do think you are taking it to the extreme, as stated before i personally thought pav put himself around a lot, but didn't really have anything come off for him.

Sorry but i thought gomes had a reasonably good game, ok nothing like the stand out performance of James, but he did most things well (bar the one fumble you mention) and looked composed throughout. Some people are probably rating his performance higher due to the injury he is carrying, but realistically in context he did good without doing anything stand-out. :hello:

Robbie posted "the defoe header" to me and i didn't know why since i never mentioned it.
No, you just said that Lennon had no end product at all yesterday; robbiesavagehasbreasts was pointing out that he provided the cross for Defoe's header.

i thought Zokora had a steady game but to me what lets him down is his positional sence 3 times a guy turned him cause he rushes in to quickly to tackle , making him prone to be turned every time

ok, i thought he meant that defoe "missed" the header.

As i said in another thread. When given 10-15 chances he eventually gets it right sometime. But it rarely happens that he's sucessful with crosses, passes or taking shots. I like him and hopes that he can improve these aspects since he'd be awsome

i know his end product isn't great.

but in this game he was good, he created a great chance for Defoe and almost scored.

Again Zokora worked his nuts off and the only one who tried closing down for their goal. .

Unfortunately he made it easy for Traore by flying in on his arse & letting him skip by!!
I like Zokora, especially his work-ethic but I think he needs someone to coach him on his positional play. Too often he's trying to close players down all over the pitch & at too much pace; he's become easy to side-step or pass around, leaving himself in no man's land.
His natural instinct is non-stop running but if he's going to play DM, he needs to 'sit' & break up play, which I actually think he's very good at.

Okay thought we actually played well, in parts played some better football, and thought we looked like the better side in most parts, 1st half and 2nd. We had enough chances to win the game even in the 1st half we could of scored a few. Should of deffiantly won this game, if only donkey bent could head the ball!!

Gomes-6 good save, did not have much else to do. Playing with an Injury

Bales-5.5 done okay, still don't think he is good enough defencesivly, was bit unlucky for the goal, still gets caught wrong side, and let's balls come in.

King-6.5 done well when he was on, some good challenges etc.

woodgate-6.5 done well.

Corluka-7 great challenge to stop them scoring, looked good. I am liking him more every game.

Zokora-8 played well yet again, everywhere etc.

O'hara-5.5 good squad player, like the fella, not anything more tho, he does some good things, and some silly things.

Lennon-8 really good performance specially 1st half, died out a bit in the 2nd, looked lively, great skill, shame defoe was not taller, was a good cross.

Modric-7 played well, came in to the game much more near the end, set up the goal, good game/

Defoe-7 good goal, some good balls, still does frustaring things, but played well.

pav-6 done some good things when he was on, shame he got injure, sure he would of scored the header bent missed.

bent 4 just not good enough, worked quite hard but is not good enough, how the hell did he miss that headeer??

dawson-7 done well when came on

Lennon had more end product than I've ever seen from him before, I was enlightened! Couple wicked crosses, Defoes header, namely, which he should have buried...

But yeah, usually no end product - but judging the pompey game, he did!
