Over on COYS olid85 said he has heard Defoe was captain because he signed a 2 year contract extension last night. Wonder if it is true.

What's the "pecking" order of Spurs captains? :) I heard Berba comes on 15th place, following the likes of Jenas, Malbranque, Hudd, Bale and O'Hara

Seems like at the minute we play well and lose and play poorly and win(Apart from Chelsea game where we got what we deserved). I cant really work out in my head what i would prefer. We were brilliant at Arsenal the other week and didnt win...Shocking today and won 2-0...football is alot to do with luck aswell as ability.

That game on Tuesday is our season so im just glad to get this one out the way...No injuries and closer to the top half of the table.

We kept a clean sheet with a back line that would be stretching it to say is our "C" side defensively. I know Sunderland are shite, but that is still a very impressive and very good thing.

So shite that they pulled back from 2-0 down at the Death Star and came close to nicking it. And how they lost to the Spammers is one of this season's great mysteries.

Sunderland are rubbish. They are a bunch of has beens and championship quality players. The only good things about them is they have a good manager, goalkeeper and striker (in that order).

I see we have the usual condescending shit regarding the opposition, I thought the prem was supposed to be one if not the best league in the world, yet I keep reading Spurs supporters calling everone bar the top four "shit", shows lack of respect for the oppo and a lack of football knowledge.

As for the game itself, we played very well in the first half and through some bad luck, poor finishing and some great saves we only had a one goal lead, when it really should have been at least 3 - 0.

I knew Sunderland would get a bollocking at half time and they came out fired up, we never got going and had to dig in, yes we got lucky at times and Cerny made a couple of great saves, but that's what he's there for. I thought overall the team had average performances and were maybe saving a bit for Tuesday, notable exceptions for me were the Hudd, who did very well at CB, Lennon was lively and Robbie for the 100 goal.

Can't wait for Tuesday, we need to up the decibel level.

Over from Dublin to see the match and was delighted to see Keano get his 100th goal!

However, like everyone knows, we should've been 2/3/4 goals up at HT. However, we weren't and failed to turn up in the 2nd half. We needed someone to take the game by the scruff of the neck but we lack that side to our game, especially in midfield. JJ went missing and couldn't impose himself at all.

How we managed to survive the 3 or 4 goal mouth scrambles I'll never know! However, players threw their bodies on the line at the end and that committment is what won us the game today.

More of that same committment on Tuesday could see us in Wembley!

Coming back over to see that game too so fingers crossed my winning record with Spurs (been to 2 games, seen 2 wins!) will continue!

Sunderland just played the normal tactics of an away side.

Keep things tight for the first half and the first 15 of the second, then push forward in the last half hour. This happens 19 times a week throughout the season so why is half of our support surprised at this fact?

As the home team you would like to get two maybe three goals to make the game safe but if not you then rely on your defence to shut up shop for the last half an hour.

Which is exactly what we did.

Ramos picked another side that had me scratching my head but once again he got it right, especially baring in mind the game on Tuesday.
I think we may just about be past the point where he is 'lucky' and into the realms of him just being very good.

I believe so. Typical Chimbs in his cameo today. Handy bombing forward, awful at defending...

Great first 45 from us, but the finishing needed to be more clinical as usual. Then basically Roy Keane was tactically better than Ramos in the second half. Aided once again by our uncommited tackling in midfield - just poking your toe out and hoping the ball ricochets off it does not constitute a tackle in my book. Amazed we kept them out, credit Cerny  and Daws . And of course Keano for his 100th.
