Would like to see Holtby in the team, probably in place of Townsend (with either Holtby or Eriksen nominally playing as a wide forward).

I don't think Siggy should be in the team long term ahead of Chadli and Lamela, but don't think he can be dropped on current goalscoring form.

Capoue would have been perfect for this game. Oh well. In attack it's so difficult to decide whether to leave out either Townsend, Sigurdsson, Holtby, Chadli or Lamela though. Our squad depth is just ridiculous, and that's with Lennon out.
Lloris
Walker Dawson Kaboul (if fit) Vertonghen
Paulinho Dembele
Townsend--Eriksen--Sigurdsson
Soldado
Friedel, Naughton, Chiriches, Sandro, Holtby, Lamela, Defoe

Usual line up with Naughton sadly at left back.

Would like to see Lamela and Chadli start as I feel they offer more/are better all round players than Townsend and Sig but it would be wrong to drop them as they've both been in good form.

Soldado is a must ... yes he's only scored penalties but he hasn't had much service.

Defoe, banged a few goals in but they've been against poor opposition and he's already shown in the last year that he struggles against quality premiership defences.

I get what you are saying, but would not class West Ham as a quality premiership defence :)
Would like to see Lamela more involved with the premiership games though, he is only going to learn by playing in them!

We need natural width in the team, which Townsend can supply (although its clear sometimes AVB has told him to keep cutting inside) with Walker so rght hand side cannot easily be 'doubled up on'. Without Rose, its difficult to do the same on the left hand side - especially with Sigursson at wide left who I wouldn't want to drop on current goal scoring form even though I would prefer Chadli there (provides some width although not super fast).

With the AM's we have, startiong with Townsend, Erikssen and Sigurdssen, its easy to bring in one or motre of Holby, Lamela or Chadli as subs if we need to change things.

Defoe seems to struggle against all prem defences lol.

Townsend has done well and has cut out his rash shooting, and Sig keeps scoring but offers little else. We've 2 inform players but I feel with need that little bit of extra quality and that's Lamela ... yes he'll take time to adapt but keeping your record signing on the bench is farcical ... the same happened when we took an eternity to make Lloris number 1 ... quality players need to play.

I think I disagree with everything here.

If it isn't broken, don't try and fix it.

But, on paper ... Lamela, Chadli, and Holtby are all better and offer more than both Sig and Townsend.

How is scoring 1 premiership goal since December 2012 good? Defoe isn't good enough and scoring with ease against mickey mouse teams doesn't warrant him being anywhere near our 1st team.

We wouldn't have splashed £30m on Lamela if we didn't think he was better than what we currently have.

Never had a bench that strong before. And that's not even how strong it can be due to injuries.

Whilst I'm fairly sure on the lineup we'll play, this would be an almost perfect game for someone like Lamela to get some time in a game not being played in 'training mode' and for Sandro to get his full match sharpness.

It's an amazing bench, with Lennon, Adebayor, Capoue, Rose to come back into the fold at some point too. I'm not even gonna count Kaboul.

It's not a case of Lamela deserving a place or not, it's that Townsend doesn't deserve to be dropped

I have no real problem dropping Townsend for what should be a comfortable fixture in order to give another player a competitive run-out. He's been playing well but certainly not undroppable. He has a lot of snap and crackle but not enough pop at the moment.

I'd usually want an attacking 3 of Erikson, Holtby, Lamela behind the striker but against a dogshit side like spam I don't mind us going more direct with Sig and Townsend starting
