Lol, just seen the Ian Wright ad . I'm still chuckling. It's the kind of thing we'd tease him about, but he wouldn't really do. Brilliant little self depreciating humour.

I like Wright, he seems a genuine person as well as a character

There's no point in playing a 5-man defence if we're not going to utilize our wing backs offensively, particularly against a rubbish team like Antwerp. Take one of the CBs off and put on another midfielder.

People will criticize Lucas, but at least he's trying to make things happen. Other players just aren't on the same wavelength.
Bale's no good though.

Anyone else got the impression Winks is trying his level best to imitate Hojbjerg’s style of play?

Bit weird. He’s just a very crap footballer.

I know we are under full press pretty much all over, but the ball never seems to be under control does it? It's always bouncing around off shins and knees and we are always having to take 2, 3 or 4 touches to bring it down. Despite that we have had 3 really good chances. We just need more composure on the ball, more movement off it and release the ball quicker when the pass is on.

Because wing back isn't all that different to full back, it's not like he's playing on the wrong side of the pitch or a totally different position.

He's not been average, he's been very poor. I don't see how being asked to play a little bit further back excuses that. If he was doing well in attack, putting dangerous balls in and taking on full backs then I could say "fair enough, he's not doing well defensively but he's attacking well so clearly he's better going forward", same as Trippier, but I've not even seen evidence of that so far. He may well have been brilliant at Wolves but I can only judge what I see here. Hope he puts in a monster performance tonight and proves me wrong, I honestly do.
Fair enough, but there are countless examples of players who are great wingbacks and bad fullbacks. They might have some similarities but they're eminently different positions that reward different strengths and punish different weaknesses.

Victor Moses was a league winning wing back. Would you want him as a fullback though? Fuck no.

Until our system allows Doherty to play high up, link with the forwards and make runs into the box he's always going to be missing his best qualities.

Think Jenas is being harsh on his assessment of Vinicius though to be honest.

Was just saying the same to my cousin. He's done ok so far imo.

Couple of goals, looked good against West Brom.

Not easy coming in and out of the side playing in patched up teams..

Vinicius, GLC, moura, Reguilon and Tanganga have played well in the first half. The other five outfield players need to buck up in the second half.

Was you expecting anything else. It’s not easy to make as many changes as we have and expect the team to click.
There have been many examples in Europe this season when teams have made wholesale changes and had bad performance/results

Youre right - i mentioned that as well just before you posted. I would ask the question why we are playing with 3 CBs? Like really?

I know he's not played much but Bale - it's not been massively impressive so far has it? Just get the overwhelming feeling he needs to get out of 2nd gear. . . if he can.

Problem we have in the longer term is , apart from Gio and N'dombele battling for that place in the middle next to Sissoko, who else in this team tonight is even remotely close to pushing to get in the premier League team? Absolutely no one in my opinion.

These boys need to start realising that unless they impress here their chances really are gonna be few and far between.
Reguilon...

Bale and Hart have been great for team morale but they're both over the hill.
