We can complain about the marginals but you need more than luck and half chances if you're letting in goals every game.

Love Ange, fully believe in him, but fuck me this is embarrassing.

Ange is doing everything to convince me that he is not upto the job if the ambition is to win title or cup.

He just cant be this open and he just cant be this idiotic to keep giving away goals from setpieces the same way.

You need to train your setpieces to ensure, keeper is protected or instil mentality to make a drama in setpieces where you go down on mere touch so to stop the bullying in box. Either you be the aggressor in box or surrender & cry in the box to get decisions. You cant be doing nothing and keep making same mistakes

It’s admirable that we don’t get into the referees ear when decisions go against us, but so niaive.
This is what fucks me off the most and I’m certain it’s why we have seen fuck all given for us this season. We are so soft, even Ange at the start of the season, wound me up with how he wouldn’t blast officials.

It gives officials an easy way out, no coincidence we’ve only had 1 penalty all season.

It could be argued we’ve been the better side but haven’t had the rub of the green; OG, denied penalty. In the other hand we’ve handed them 3 goals. Needless corner given for the 1st goal because of fuckubg around at the back, Davies not picking up Saka their out ball for the second then, the refusal to protect the GK at corners leads to the third(and probably the 1st).
Having said all hat the game turned on the refusal of the Kulusevski penalty claim. That’s probably given for almost any other team; we just don’t get penalties. If it was , we score and it’s a completely different game.

Maddison has been the worst attacking player and he has not been at it since coming back from injury. Slipping too much and turning into opponents rather than the early season player who was gliding forwards.

Defensively we are disgraceful from corners. We took for granted how good Harry Kane being at the near post nodding deliveries away was but there is no excuse for every corner being a minefield to navigate and every conceded goal being literally within the vicinity of the goal line. These aren't even 50-50 battles the attacker wins. All you do is touch it from under the bar.

I think we needed to get one goal back to apply pressure in the second half. Son was the big one and when he messes up a clear opening like that it is not our day.
He just seems to have nothing about him at all when he's not in form. And the slump has gone for months. Not what you want from a vice captain.

Why do we, or any team, do zonal marking on set pieces. I’m no tactician but I’m pretty sure that for years, analysts of the game always lament zonal marking and highlight the deficiencies of it.

it makes sense, having a running start gives you forward and upward momentum…ergo, more likelihood of physically winning a battle. It’s simple fucking physics
It's more than that it allows the opposition to overload areas of the box giving them a numbers advantage from every single delivery.

It just does not work.

The thing that pisses me off the most Is you will never see Tottenham go away to Arsenal and do this.

We e got some big defenders, but we’re set to play musical statues not football when the corner comes in

Look who Man City have - Stones Akanji Dias Ake Walker Gvardiol Rodri Haaland. Big players who are set piece threats and good at defending set pieces. Only Van De Ven is really in that profile on our team.

Guardiola is really clever - started using these types of players as fullbacks for this reason and now dominates the league. He learned that his Barca model wouldn't work in England and modified it to be much more physical.

Positives - we've had most of the ball.

Negatives - we seem to have forgotten we need to take shots to have a chance of scoring and quite frankly the entire defensive coaching set up needs replacing. Woeful, especially at set pieces.

Serious questions of Ange’s tactics have to be asked, this is shambolic & embarrassing.

It's just like, what is the merit in playing well when you see things like Maddison at the back post marking Saliba and Gabriel? Things like that shouldn't occur irrespective of the circumstances or whether we're winning or not. Some of the stuff just feels so amateur to see.

Also the penalty not given in Kulusevski is blatant corruption. He tries to stay on the play and is punished for that. Fucking VAR is useless, that second goal should never have been given. How unlucky can we be never ceases to amaze me
But that was compounded by Maddison diving and essentially giving the ball to them to run up the field and score.

I'm happy to believe in Anges style of play, can even accept giving goals away from risky football, Im in no way calling for his head but just can't understand the difference from the start of the season.

Is it as simple as we've been "found out"? Our attacking play doesn't look nearly as dynamic, it looks over structured, wide players hugging the touchline, but they can't cross it cause there's no aerial threat from Son. Opposition just has to sit back and we can't play through them.

Son needs replacing, just like Salah at Liverpool
It’s not knee jerk to suggest this and I’ve thought it for a while but you sell a player when it’s uncomfortable to do so but ultimately it’s for the betterment of evolving the team.

Fergie did this routinely at Utd whereas we are utterly woeful in moving players on at the right time and ultimately at the optimum price.

The reason we are struggling to make chances is because when arse lose the ball they get 9 players back very quickly. Just look how congested it is when we have the ball. There is no room for Maddison or anyone to work.

It doesn't help that Son is not a centre forward, he offers no physical presence whatsoever. If he doesn't have space to run into then he becomes very ineffective. We end up knocking it around in front of a massed defense, give it away, get countered. Rinse and repeat

We need better players but more importantly, players that can play his system.
There are no players capable of defending like this without getting punished. It can work in the scottish league where the players are not as effective, but in the PL it will never work.
We have good defenders, but we defend like shit. And it's all down to our coaches and the manager

Arteta has wiped the floor with Ange tactically here and exploited all of our weaknesses.

Suicidal high line - check
Can't defend set pieces - check
Piss around with the ball at the back no matter the situation - check

This one isn't on the players.
It’s not on Ange that Romeo missed from 2 yards or Sonny missed a one on one or PEH wasn’t goal side and put in his own net

Arsenal overload the front post when they play against teams that are weak in defending them. We have 2 weeks to work on shape and defending this and our answer is zonal nonsense where they have 4/5 on 2 at the front post. Absolutely hilarious stuff and cost us 2 goals already.
