Just watched the first half as I missed the game. If Son’s goal wasn’t offside it would have been the best goal I’ve seen us score in years! It was a thing of beauty. We were on fire for those first 20mins! If you said a team win this 4-1 by the 20 minute mark, then 100% of the people would have said it’s Spurs that win.

On my way back from the game. One of those nights but a learning curve to be fair. Also, impressed that the fans on a whole realised the context of the situation and got behind the team. For the most part with 9 players as well we all kinda knew that we would be up against it.

The Mickey injury is the only thing I’m really bothered about tbh.

Even if we had to do without the ones that went off for 3 games I’d be ok, unless Phillips is some VDV regen we are going to really struggle until Jan ☹️

Just makes such a change when i feel so chill even though we have sustained major player damage tonight. Just so proud of them and how they ran their socks off all game. Worried about the next few games yes, but I do have major belief after tonight when the replacements all moved mountains, even Skippy.

Just got home and so haven't seen any replays so I don't know if the ref and VAR got every decision correct, but tbh I just don't care. Tonight was a farce with how stop/start the game was for all of the decisions - put it in the bin.

As for the players, I thought they continued to play, continued to press and were mostly decent after a couple of brain farts. It looked like Udogie's second was soft and that he got the ball but as I say, not had a chance to see any replays yet.

Crowd were very good tonight, singing the team on and encouraging even to the end. South Stand actually lived up to it's billing for parts of tonight. Particular kudos to Dier and Emerson who both did very well when presumably they weren't expecting to be on at all and Porro, who seemed to be everywhere.

Oh, and fuck Chelsea.
💯 this. It’s becoming a complete farce when at the ground waiting with VAR. Needs to be more transparency for those in the ground with the pending VAR decisions.

Wow. We'll done you Spurs. 100% we came out of that game better than those overspending chavs did.

Viccario was Motm. Not Jackson who was 5 yards 0ffside for his second, and nearly fell over for his 3rd.

Dier was immense. Yes he's not first choice, but what a warrior to have in the squad. Same for Hojbjerg.

Everyone that actually watched that game knows who will take the momentum out of it.

Ange made pool and arse looked like absolute mugs.

"mate, if we were down to 5 we'd still have a crack" 😍😍😍😍

sitting at my desk.... finally able to reflect on the match...

omg... what a game... i rather lose playing like that than a 0-1 boring defeat.

yes, it was insane. it was painful to watch after 1-3, but it was so unorthodox to see us still going for it and still creating decent chances.

my take away... a bit more luck... just a bit more luck, if a few things went our way we could have gotten something really memorable but it wasn't our day today. it was a game of millimeters.

well... no more 4am kicks for the rest of the month! :sorry:

time for coffee... COYS!

It was a farce. They didn't even announce they were reviewing it until 2-3 minutes after the event.
The whole thing needs rethinking.

I know a lot will disagree but a referral system needs to be put in place like with tennis and cricket. If it’s marginal (like with umpires call in cricket you stick with the officials and get on with it).

The main thing is transparency mic all those officials up and show it on the screen.

Something definitely needs doing, but as a match going fan, my preference would be to bin off everything except the goal line tech. What we gain, isn't worth what is lost.

Couldn’t disagree with you here. As the years have gone on since its introduction VAR is somehow worse.

Also think it’s the sheer arrogance of the footballing authorities going in feet first (pardon the pun) and not making it a worth while part of the sport like tennis and cricket.

It’s not scientific and for the most popular sport on this planet, with all the money as well it’s shocking.

I loved the atmosphere there tonight and it’s been so much better from our fans as well but like you the experience of being there not knowing what on earth is going on with VAR is now beyond a joke.

To be fair, the match going fan has been fairly unimportant to the PL for quite some time, so it's not hugely surprising.

IMO Micky makes Romero a far better player. Romero was a shambles next to Dier last year, he needs someone with pace covering his marauding runs because he's yet to show the discipline to say that he won't take unreasonable risks (even in our risk-taking system). It has helped to have VDV covering him, and vice versa. I would have taken a long Romero absence over a long VDV one all day long.

Another positive (I think) was that in all of the chaos of the game tonight, Bissouma managed to avoid a yellow (ref must have thought he played for Chelsea as they only got free kicks, not yellows until the end!)

Hats off to dier. You don’t do that without massive balls, and he really tried to play like Ange wants. He’s had to turn up to training every day and keep working hard knowing he’s not first choice any more and seeing so much love go to everyone else. Yes he’s limited but he deserves some appreciation for turning up.
