I thought calling for VAR was ruled as a bookable offence. Wasn't Yates already on a booking?
Like so many ostensibly sensible rules they only seem to apply when there is no danger of anything controversial arising from them being adhered to.

My takes on the game:-
We are much better when Bentancur plays; He moves the ball quickly and provides creativity and control.

Son seems to give himself half a yard with the ball at his feet but then is reluctant to shoot?

Great to see Brennan cut inside effortlessly several times but it would be great if he could put a left foot shot in sometimes when in such good position in the box.

Maddison - he seems to be picking up the ball a little deeper to make an influence. Not at his best but it will come.

There needs to be a shift in how we handle corners. When we have one we rarely threaten, however when defending we often look under huge pressure

Overall an OK performance and good to see Werner constantly creating chances

Agree but I also think there wouldn't be anything wrong with finding a place with game time for Hojbjerg in this squad.

Made up two more points on Villa and United, Newcastle, Scouse, Chavs and Woolwich are going to be tough games, but football is a funny, old game with no givens.

A CL spot (even if it's a top five one ) is in my humble opinion now ours to lose.
If you ask me, United have been put to bed now even though its not numerical yet.

Referee consistency is a joke.

How did blokey not get sent off for pretty much exactly the same incident as what romero got a straight red for? It was higher than Romeros red roo.
How did matey number 2 not get carded for kicking the ball away when one of ours (Sarr maybe?) got a yellow in the last week after poking it away at the touchline.
1 I don't think it was a red
2 Its a different ref (however they should be consistent and we can see inconsistencies even in the same ref)

Because it wasn't a punch? VAR barely did anything about it because there was nothing there.
VAR DIDn't barely do anything when Son flicked at Rudiger a couple years back though. I wouldn't have been surprised if Madisson was sent off.

If it's a red (and a penalty iirc) when Romero does it (I think Bissouma got redded for a similar challenge too), it's a red when the forest player did it too.

EDIT This is a must-win game and we will win. Tottenham Hotspur 3 Nottingham Forest 1. COYS!
Finally got one right! I was there and I enjoyed that game. Two teams trying to win, Forest were good but once Bentancur and Hojbjerg came on we wrestled control of the game and dominated that second half. That is as comfortable as we have been in a home game for some time. We have tended to be only a goal ahead late on with all the jeopardy that brings. Two special strikes to view from the South Stand and a good old dance to Freed From Desire. That was a fun Sunday night!

Going forward, big message for Bissouma, Sarr and Udogie.

We cannot carry passengers.

Udogie was at fault for the goal as he failed to track Elanga, it should have been his first thought as soon as he saw Van De Ven have to shift across.

But the pattern after the goal was this.

View attachment 139337
Bissouma and Sarr are both caught napping on the right side and allow Forest to get in between the lines.

View attachment 139338
Bissouma spots it but is still jogging back rather than closing that space down, he tries to make a tackle but because he didn't sprint to cover, he couldn't get there.

View attachment 139339
Bissouma is at least closer to the ball and player.

View attachment 139340
After the ball is released he loses focus and is too slow to spot the player in front. He then realises he has to recover and block the run.

But Sarr hasn't closed the distance and seen the runs from deep.

View attachment 139341
Bissouma has recovered but Sarr totally switches of and does nothing to mark the space on the edge of the area.

This is nothing to do with tactics or players not being good enough. We are conceding chances far too easily because players are not 'at it' when we lose the ball.

Once the players get the message and are quicker to close gaps, we will start to see a more defensively sound team.

But this is why Bissouma and Sarr were hooked, you CANNOT switch off. It is not all about what you do on the ball. Yes, Bissouma was looking lively and good in the final third/build-up but it's totally useless if you aren't working off the ball.

Total bollocks.

Reading your bilge, no Spurs player is allowed an off day.

Thank God Ange is the Tottenham manager.

Nice.

Actually have nothing to say to that
