Fuck me. Some of you need to grow up. That's a tough one to take, but we're not arsenal. We don't have a squad of complete shit. Some perspective is needed.

We are in literally the same position Liverpool were in last season. We've been told Poch will be backed. We aren't far away. Let's finally have a spend up, freshen up the squad and go again next season.

We didn't play well and didn't do enough to deserve to win but fuck it. Don't throw away the journey to get there, or the experience it will bring them.

Can’t be bother to read the rest of this thread right now, so many fucking idiots in here

1,000,000 winner ratings to this man

We will be back here, fucking believe in the club. We are a few signings away from being up there again and one day we will get over the line

Our journey is just starting, Liverpool are a huge club. Any one under 30 has no idea how big this is for us.

We were nothing for so long, now we are in the spotlight and I really believe the people in the club will make it count

Mauricio Pochettino speaking to BT Sport: "I feel very proud about their effort, how we fight. We were unlucky, we concede a goal on a penalty. We were fighting, and we played so well in the second half. I feel so proud, a little bit unlucky. To start 1-0 down from the start was tough, we changed our plans but we are very proud of these players and these fans. We can be optimistic.

"That [penalty] was the circumstance we cannot manage or prepare for. You can never believe you will be 1-0 down after a minute. Mentally it was very tough, it’s about learning and experience, like Liverpool were in this position last year.

"I am so pleased to manage this group of players, but congratulations to Liverpool.
"The standards are so high, it wasn’t enough today. It’s a shame. You want to experience this again and repeat it. It is the best game in the world after the World Cup.

"It’s about trying, believing and building the journey so it happens again as soon as possible."
Great response & just what you'd expect from Poch. We need to believe getting to this final wasn't a one off. Mentality has to be that that is the expectation

Shite. Sorry but the myth of Poch has gone for me.
Talk all you fucking want of destiny of wanting, of desire and all the rest of it.

It was absolutely-fucking-clear by even 30mins that Liverpool weren't firing on all cylinders and that they probably weren't going to be able to pick it up. By 55-60mins and their early substitutions it was clearer than ever because even klopp signaled he fucking knew it with the subs so even a moron like me could see it..Poch? Apparently not. Wtf did you see from him? seriously did anyone see anything? Wheres your fucking balls? All talk. Nothing playing career nothing management career so far, hmmm.

Kane. Our best player? A while ago maybe, but since when has he been our best player? I'd say a long time ago. Its also easier to seem to be the best player when basically the fucking team is picked around you to the detriment of the rest of the players and now, seemingly, the club. Kane CANNOT be substituted under any circumstances except us being a couple of goals up against shit opposition because...because...because, well i don't know!?

Dele, yeah nice goal against palace mate and a couple of headers against Chelsea, but fuck off.

Eriksen, must hurt seeing everything revolve around Kane, so some sympathy there but pack your bags and fuck off.

Trippier, one word "pussy", fuck off.

Rose, we are probably going to sell you because you have an actual pair of nuts son, sorry about that, extremley sad to see you go but you deserve better than the fake show going on here.

Feel desperately sorry for Moura, scandelous decision not to start with him and fuck Kane off to the bench. You get an offer mate you best leave, you will never fulfill your potential in a team with Kane in it.

Wankers. Liverscum absolutely there for the taking and we were disgusting. Would have preferred to have been battered off the pitch than that shite. Shameful.

Absolutely gutted. yes, the penalty was stupid and harsh but I hoped that it might work in our favour. Liverpool looked very flat as if they didn't quite know what to do with being 1 up without having earnt it. I also presumed we would be losing by half time, but if it wasn't by more than a goal always fancied our chances to nick it. Liverpool looked so nervous throughout and I think if we had scored we would have gone on to win. I wouldn't have started Kane but then again I haven't been watching him and Moura and all the others in training. Poch will take some criticism now with hindsight, but this is the first manager in CL history who requested that the team photo featured the whole squad - to me that says more than who started. No-one was brilliant tonight and I have seen many a game where a fully fit Kane just doesn't get the opportunities to make a mark. The final ball wasn't quite there. Moura had 35 minutes and didn't blow anyone away any more than Kane, or Eriksen or Alli did. It was just so frustrating because we just needed that one goal and I think Liverpool would have fallen apart. Once both Sissoko and Winks were off we didn't have the same control of the game though. For the most part we looked the more seasoned players and I think that Poch and the team have consistently matured throughout these various european campaigns. Let's just hope we can push on from here - we will spend this summer that is without question, and Poch will be staying to rebuild. Liverpool lost a final and went on to win the next, we emulated their semi-final heroics now lets follow suit with another run next season.

i can't help but thinking WHAT IF we didn't concede in the first min, such a horrible feeling, but having said that i guess we have had some fortunate to reach the final, its just gutting knowing how shit BOTH teams were

Only depressing thing tonight is that Poch hasn't reaffirmed that he's all in for next season in a time of hurt as it is right now. "Now is not the time to talk about it" is just a load of nothing.

We over achieved to get here. Ana amazing achievement by the club.

That doesn’t take away from the fact we were dreadful. And miles off Liverpool who deserve the trophy having been backed with money and their owners ambition after last years final.

What I would give for a league cup win....
You are talking about two different clubs Liverpool have an expectation level of winning things and generally do win something fairly regularly, we on the other don't do it's not fair to compare imo.

No yellow cards, just 5 fouls from us (and 6 from Liverpool) - what the fuck was that passion from the players in the biggest game of Spurs history?

He started scoring immediately after his last injury...

I don't think that's the point though. We've seen what Kane does after injuries - he lingers about and offers very little. Doesn't run any channels, try and work space, try and get in behind, look up for doing the target man stuff and holding/shielding the ball and bringing others into play, contributing to the press etc.

He's such a good striker that in these minimal number of touches he can still often pop up with a goal, but we've seen that even doing that against the likes of Burnley, Southampton, and other lowly teams isn't good enough. It isn't the sole reason for a loss, but having no platform up front, no running, no work rate, and no ability to bring others into the game and helping the rest of the attack thrive is a massive problem. There is more to a strikers game than goal output and ability to sniff a chance, otherwise the likes of Darren Bent and Defoe would be legends of the game and pure poachers become more and more obsolete......

Tonight was probably the time to take the gamble if you were going to, but with the relative quality of all the opposition, domestic and European, getting better and better each year we need to be going into games with eleven players across the park who can run and work and play with intensity. We cant have passengers because we've seen in recent months there is very little opposition now that you can get away with it against. Poch has got to reset the standards, particularly in terms of work rate and the pressing and intensity of our side, and that should mean no one is untouchable and it cant carry half-fit players.

So many of you guys can see the transition of the ball across the midfield was so fucking damn slow although we had Winks and Sissoko, who both did well under the pressing and Sissoko gotta deal with the pressure of just giving away a penalty, but let Eriksen free with an out-of-jail card?

He should be controlling the flow from midfield to attack but I didn't really see him in the first half TBH. There were such huge gaps in the scums defence that he could probe but he resorted to playing short back passes with our two cute CMs..
Eriksen doesn't step up with these moments unless we desperately need something. Which is a great thing but also a massive hinderance.

We've needed someone to come in and really push him for a while now. I'd love to see him stay with lo celso coming in, someone to make him not rest on his laurels and realise if he's not producing hes out the team.

We have done amazingly to get to this point all things considered but just didn't capitalise on the big moments in the game.

Back four good, Winks did well and it was unfortunate that just after he went off (wrongly or rightly) Sissoko got injured.

Son seemed to hurry everything, Kane wasn't really involved in anything of note. And Alli was as ineffective as he has been for most of the season.

Gonna give fan of the match to my ten year old nephew who clapped for most of the game and after I'd given up at two nil i could hear his little voice (with no hint of sarcasm) say "we can still get three goals in 5 minutes" watching it with him probably took the edge off for me.

Next season we will be much better irrespective of incomings IMO.

Gutted but oh so proud. They were there for the taking we just weren't clinical and they were. Liverpool weren't all that.

Anyone else think the whole squad pre-match photo was a bit "let's enjoy the moment".

We should have been there to win.

Did Liverpool do the same?

Fuck knows, but they didn't play any better than we did.

It was the heat and the very early goal that killed the game, and Spurs' old problem of not capitalising on their superiority that really cost us. That and Harry K not being match sharp, though to be honest there wasn't a player on the pitch for either side who looked sharp.
