Agree mate. Too many on here are happy to accept 'plucky' 'over achieving' little 'ol Spurs failing at a crucial moment again. We as fans, as a whole, need to start demanding more instead of being happy to make a semi final or, in this case, a final!
I don't think anyone is happy. Just because they aren't squealing like stuck pigs about it doesn't mean they are accepting either. I'm not entirely sure what you expect nor how you think people should 'demand more'. In what way should anyone taking what you said on board actually go about doing that?

Dutch ref getting his revenge for our Ajax result?

Truly gutted. Couldn't sleep all night..

He just completely changed the game. Liverpool just sat back and played on the counter. If it was 0-0 gaps would've started to open up as both sides would have to go for it. And they were shit and nervous. You could sense it.

If the ref didn't give the pen I could bet a million that we would've gone on to win. Liverpool were tired and nervous and there for the taking.

So gutted...

Said to my brother in law just before kick off, it would be so spurs to give a penalty away in the first 5 minutes of the biggest game in our history. While you can argue of it was or wasn’t, it is very much in the genetic make up of this team where you actually expect us to create our own turmoil at the worst possible moments

Getting the ball kicked against your chest onto your armpit is in the make up of this team?

Fuck a duck you should have placed a bet on it rather than saying it to your brother in law before the kick off, just think of the riches you'd be enjoying now ...

There's something very wrong with the game when a penalty is handed out under the circumstances it was last night. The ball was struck at high velocity against Sissoko's chest and and was completely unavoidable; clearly no intent whatsoever and in no way deliberate. 23/24 seconds and a Champions League final addled before it even got started. If this becomes the "norm" then players are going to deliberately concoct penalties by shooting straight at opponent's arms. Crazy.

As Lloris says after the game, they were too timid.

You get to the final and repeat the same mistakes that you've done many times this season, you don't start playing (with urgency etc) until it's too late.

Liverpool were there for the taking and they couldn't step their game up.

Number of players waking up this morning full of regret which is absolutely the worst way to be after a final. Being beaten by a better side when you have played close to your best is one thing but to have played so poorly and nowhere near your level and narrowly lose is something most of them will carry for rest of their careers as it's likely most of them will never play In as big a game again.

Maybe I'm being harsh but after such a performance it takes a bit of the gloss off reaching the final. Players have done unbelievably well to reach final but to leave so much behind on the pitch is very hard to accept.

Hopefully this is the final push for Poch to make the big surgery on the squad that's needed.

Begs the question, why did they abandon the law of the game as it was written? This exact scenario -- a player intentionally playing the ball into the arm of a defender in the box -- is precisely why the laws of the game have included intent as a necessary precondition of handling the ball for a century. The law is still on the books, and should have been enforced as written.

Stupid rule, the ref should be able to use his loaf, make a decision and get criticised.

What we will see now is players kicking the ball at arms to get penalties. We’re gonna see lots of stupid penalties until this rule is revoked.

We need to go out and do what Liverpool did after losing the final last summer. No messing about, go and buy the players to address the weaknesses in the team and squad. Now we will see what this club is made of.

The penalty did change the match and it's very unfortunate as I believe we would have had a completely different match otherwise.

Liverpool used that first goal advantage perfectly. They let us have possession and they deliberately slowed the tempo down. It's not rocket science anyone who has watched a fair bit of this Spurs team this season knows we struggle against opponents that sit back. Kudos to Klopp and Liverpool to change their tactics accordingly.

Experience matters in this competition and I feel like we fell short here. But it's a steep lurning curve and for players like Winks and Kane (...who I believe will be here for the remainder of their career) it's a match that will mold them in to better players over time.

Roll on TW and new season. One of the weirdest, most emotional and memorable season I've experienced as a Spurs fan come to an end. We had so much against us this season.

With proper rest and a PROPER pre season I'm eager to see the best again from players like Alli and Kane. A full season in NWHL, a clear out of deadwood and some new exciting players.

In the greater scheme of things we have so much to look forward to. Come on you Spurs!

We could’ve beaten Liverpool, unfortunately we just couldn’t beat ourselves last night.

All we had to do was not do something stupid in the first 10 minutes...............

Gutted, but also proud of the lads to get us there, the Lane was brilliant last night, if we had scored, I think the place would have ignited it was soo intense.

Thanks for the memories, I just really wanted that 1 special memory

We lost the final because of 3 things

1) Poch has been incredible for us. If there is one criticism I have, its selection in major finals. I still cannot digest the fact that Moura didn't start. Its as bad as starting Son in LWB against Chelsea in the previous finals. Its not Moura vs Kane, its Moura vs anyone in that XI. When he came as sub, there was a new energy change in crowd not just in stadium but also various pubs , fan parks & homes where Spurs fan watched the game. Its not that Moura has to be included because of his hatrick its because he had the tools to worry the Liverpool defense.
I am sure, people have differing opinion on this. I respect that. But IMO, We missed an opportunity to test Liverpool defense against a confident & hungry Moura.

2) Sissoko Penalty : Its not about whether ball stuck arm or armpit or chest. Thats a different argument. For me, its our player who put the onus on the referee to make a decision. First minute of CL final, instead of concentrating on your game, you put your hands out in the box and asking someone behind you to watch out for the ball. This is a great & harsh lesson for our lads. You make even the slightest mistake in these big games, you will pay for it. Only hope is, our lads learn from it. There is no place for individual errors , especially when a game starts. Its amateurish. At pro level, this cannot happen.

3) Liverpool Game management : Liverpool were 1st or 2nd gear the entire night. They seem to acknowledge themselves that they aren't playing that well, so they kind of managed the game well. Their defense was great. They showed experience at this stage matters.

Regardless of above 3 things, we still played well & shows the hunger till the end.
If we have to move to the next level, we got to get learn from this game and improve.

There have been a lot of poor first half/late goals in second half performances from us this season, where we haven't created enough chances.

To be honest, it was a 'typical' 18/19 display from us.

That's not having a go at the players; I certainly thank them for some great moments this year!

But we have to do better in the first 45 minutes of games* and Poch has to get us to play with more creativity and swagger.

I think signing a pacy RB will help and also Sessegnon, who can share responsibilities with Rose. As an example, there was a moment last night in the second half when the ball was moved quickly out wide to Trippier. He was one on one with their left-back, with acres of space behind the defender. He didn't push the ball past the player and sprint into the open space; instead, realising that he wasn't going to skin Robertson, he played it backwards.

Anyway, looking forward to the summer now and the 19/20 season (y)

*Sky had some statistic in the Bournemouth game (I think) saying that we had scored a pitiful amount of goals in the first half of matches, with the vast majority of our goals coming in the second half. I think they also said that a lot of our wins came from where we were a goal down and finally we rarely lead at half time.

A disappointing result and a match that certainly didn't live up to its pre match hype regardless of the result. Lot of talk about signing players but some of our players who are first on the team sheet had very average games last night.

Just too add a tenner for The Lane screening was great value , just needed a goal.

I actually think having regrets about what we could have done better is no harm.

It shows the players that there’s nothing mythical about the competition. Everything is possible if we play well. It should make them hungrier to get back again, with an strengthened squad, and without some of those ‘first time’ nerves.

Shite. Sorry but the myth of Poch has gone for me.
Talk all you fucking want of destiny of wanting, of desire and all the rest of it.

It was absolutely-fucking-clear by even 30mins that Liverpool weren't firing on all cylinders and that they probably weren't going to be able to pick it up. By 55-60mins and their early substitutions it was clearer than ever because even klopp signaled he fucking knew it with the subs so even a moron like me could see it..Poch? Apparently not. Wtf did you see from him? seriously did anyone see anything? Wheres your fucking balls? All talk. Nothing playing career nothing management career so far, hmmm.

Kane. Our best player? A while ago maybe, but since when has he been our best player? I'd say a long time ago. Its also easier to seem to be the best player when basically the fucking team is picked around you to the detriment of the rest of the players and now, seemingly, the club. Kane CANNOT be substituted under any circumstances except us being a couple of goals up against shit opposition because...because...because, well i don't know!?

Dele, yeah nice goal against palace mate and a couple of headers against Chelsea, but fuck off.

Eriksen, must hurt seeing everything revolve around Kane, so some sympathy there but pack your bags and fuck off.

Trippier, one word "pussy", fuck off.

Rose, we are probably going to sell you because you have an actual pair of nuts son, sorry about that, extremley sad to see you go but you deserve better than the fake show going on here.

Feel desperately sorry for Moura, scandelous decision not to start with him and fuck Kane off to the bench. You get an offer mate you best leave, you will never fulfill your potential in a team with Kane in it.

Wankers. Liverscum absolutely there for the taking and we were disgusting. Would have preferred to have been battered off the pitch than that shite. Shameful.

Thank fuck you hardly ever post.

Totally agree with this. Kane should have been on the bench. I also don't understand why people don't understand that Sissoko's hand was in an unnatural position therefore made his body bigger. It's a penalty. Hand by his side then no penalty given.

Gutted about last night. Both teams were terrible. But something Alli and Kane now need a preseason to get going again
