Nice write up the the Guardian. Apart from the tabloids and Sky there does seem to be a shift in the media towards City and their doped up status. I just get that feeling that the Grealish/Kane (maybe) signings have pushed things too far in their eyes. There’s a few sly digs in this article from Wilson.

but they had Torres, Sterling, Maherez, Grealish, Gundogan.

The players that played are not lower level reserves. The ones who played always get rotated in and out. It’s a narrative from the media to make us look like we had some sort of handicap in our favour.
it was a weakened side. we were weakened as well, but they were missing more. not sure that admitting that fact lessens our win? maybe this media narrative is just to report facts, not some wide conspiracy against us?

If you base it completely on that game - if they’re prepared to pay £100m for Grealish, how much should they be offering for Kane?

I don’t want to wade into an argument but from where we were sitting the referee was heavily biased against us. Maybe it looks different on TV with all the angles they use etc.

Last observation is that Alli left every ounce of energy he had on that pitch, he practically collapsed at the end. I love the man.

I'm terrible at accurately assessing a game when I've been as I get so caught up in the emotion.

But Japhet Tanganga was unbelievable. What a performance. Lucas was also absolutely fantastic!

Great day all round!

Feels like a cloud as lifted from the club today.
The last couple of years have been tough. The fall of Poch, Jose coming in, the Uefa cup defeat, ESL, Kane. Felt like a fresh start today. Great performance, great support, Nuno’s conduct over the last couple of weeks etc. Optimism reminiscent of the last game at WHL. I wonder if the flags etc were kind of a way of the club trying to draw a line under these last two years too, trying to invoke better days.

I’m beaming right now.

From the comments section:

As Pep Guardiola stood on the touchline, surveying the scene around him - spent players exchanging handshakes on the field and the home fans savouring their victory in the stands - he wondered how his team could recover from this early setback. Then it hit him. He would buy Heung-Min Son as well.

I wasn't in favour of keeping him around but Nuno sees him as a vital part of the team with his pressing and that's fair enough

I hope he improves his on the ball technique and decision making because if he can he'll no doubt improve.
