Without sound reactionary, it's games like this that make you realise how many players we actually need in order to go up a level. Don't get me wrong, we have an excellent team, but our midfield and striker really need more depth and we also need to improve our fullbacks. That's 5 new playes which at least two, if not three (cm, lb, RB) need to be of serious quality. Considering how Levy does business this could take years to sort out. That's if we want to win the league.
And by the time we sort out those areas, others could have left. You need to continually improve the squad and team to be a leading PL club. There's simply no way around it.

Calm down - we played well except the finishing

Too easy to say that. We've lost 6 out of 22. More than United, more than Arsenal.

Too easy to say "if only for DeGea..." but that disguises the real problems that we have.

And besides, we played well only in the second half. First 45mins we didn't even have a shot on target.

Absolutely sickening loss & now Sissoko & Kane look like being out for next week, no doubt we’ll still make no reinforcements this window

Pogba had one good pass and pundits acting like he was magnificent. Yes it was a good pass but didnt notice him much after that.

we got to be honest here, Kane is bad, did you not see him limping and pain he was in, you could see it from his face.
we wont know nothing today as Poch will relay his usual we have to asses him but he is out for a few weeks min, if same ankle as his normal probably out til March.
We are bang in trouble if we don't strengthen, TBH missing out on top 4 may give Levy the kick he deserves for how he has treated fans this year.
But we won't strengthen so fans can't get to upset about it but at least the stupid notion that we were in a title race can now be put to bed, the club have punched above it's weight and as often occurs in these big games just fall a fraction short.
The important thing to remember is that the club are in a better place nowadays even if the club can't win stuff it's still better than what it could be, days like today are disappointing but inevitable when we can't get the squad depth of the big boy's to cope but top four is and was the priority so the team have to focus on the plan at hand.

Nobody is moaning that we were unlucky.

We should of converted those guilt edged chances, but we created enough to win handsomely.

We didn't take our chances and got nothing, but we played really well second half.

You don't huff and puff and create that many good chances ffs.

Huff and puff implies we were laboured and struggled to create much.

In the last half hour I've seen literally several thousand social media/forum posts bemoaning how unlucky we were. So lots of people are, as always.

Huff and puff was merely to reflect that you couldn't fault the effort, though looking a bit laboured to a man we did keep going till the end.

I don’t think Kane’s finishing has been quite as reliable this season generally.
That first one though, i can't remember him hitting one from there so poorly.

He would usually hit that with the instep and a little lift but just scuffed it straight at De Gea's foot.

Tactically naive? Nothing to do with it. Trippier gave the ball away in a dangerous position and they just hit on us on the counter.

You can set your tactics however you want but if players make silly errors or just don't finish chances then there is not much you can do.

I agree, but the threat was massively heightened from them in that first half due to us having our fullbacks so high up and leaving the centre backs vulnerable to a potential counter attack. Yes the goal came from a mistake and Pochettino can't account for that, but the fact of the matter is that it's of course always a possibility that you can lose possession, no matter where you are on the pitch. To have just Alderweireld and Vertonghen left facing potential counter attacks against Lingard, Martial and Rashford is overly risky. Also Davies doesn't offer much of an outlet on the left side going forward anyway. He should have been staying deep and providing cover like he was in the 2nd half.

Even minus the Tripper error and if they didn't score then, having better cover is something we should have been doing anyway. Like said in commentary it was similar to what we did against Liverpool earlier on, leaving our centre backs vulnerable against the potential counter attack of their front three. Disagree all you want, but that was massively naive.

I know we like to have our fullbacks high up, but there are certainly occasions where I think we need to provide more security in having them sit deeper.

What about Kane, Son, Sissoko our for six weeks and Dembele being sold?

There will be no reinforcements.

We haven’t had to deal with any of our current problems so far this season and as I said most of our games have been away from home - that’s why we’ve been doing well.

We now have new problems to deal with, big problems.

Where did you get this from?

There might be a silver lining with this result. Levy might just open his purse strings a little bit wider to get a CM.

Cue the optimistic ratings .

It's staggering how much they were going on about it. I'd call it competent but no more, he's dumped a pass down a wide open channel for his striker. Big fucking deal.

Are we all just assuming Kane is injured or is there any facts involved?

He was down for several minutes getting treatment at the end. He did walk off the pitch, but he was grimacing and limping. And the look on his face said to me he was concerned ( although that last bit might just be my natural Spurs fan pessimism kicking in).

How the hell have we lost that today. By far the better team. Pretty speechless after that to be fair. The amount of clear chances we had was ridiculous. Trippier ultimately costs us again. Gutted. COYS

Agreed, would have taken top 4 before start of season and still would but that is far from done.
we have to win our next 5 which are winnable on paper but loss of Kane is what is concerning me the most.
We have no midfield and have to rely on Llorente to score goals for us over next few weeks.... worrying
