Ok I have just seen the Kane penalty appeal on Tele for the first time and I am astonished, the defender didn't fall into Harry he dived into him to bring him down having realised that he couldn't get to him. To be honest that's what I thought happened at the game but was ready to be proved wrong. VAR is neither here nor there it was a piss poor decision by the referees who just plain got it wrong.

Anyone watch Liverpool against Arsenal? Impressed with how much pressure Liverpool applied because they don't fuck about. Ball goes wide, ball gets crossed quickly while forwards are moving towards goal at pace. They also use the "round the corner" cross a lot (Henderson). Compare that to the pace at which we play. Massive, massive difference. We declined so many chances to cross early / first time. Just don't get it.

I know, those Liverpool moves are excellent, don’t know how they do it. It’s like their players are telepathic or something.

Or they spend time practicing them in training, but what are the chances of that...

Our full backs deliveries compared to theirs is night and day, just not threatening at all.

I agree VAR should be the way forward to get decisions correct. When it started we were led to believe it was to be used when there was a clear and obvious error in the refs decision. It was being used to change decisions in spite of this. Now even when there has been a clear and obvious error we have seen the error allowed. The people running VAR at least in the Premier League are incompetent. VAR isn't the excuse for yesterday's result alone I must add.

One good thing about us being..... And I quote.... Shit,...... We may lose some of the fickle glory hunters we have picked up recently.

I don't think glory hunters choose Tottenham as their club to support mate. I think we are all genuinely frustrated by the football we are watching and even more by Poch's current intractability.

If Spurs lose and lose in the recent fashion, moaning and criticising the players, ref and the manager is the only release we get as fans!

I know it makes me feel better to do that anyway!

Poch is experiencing internal problems, that's obvious, he will sort it out for sure, we owe him to back him, calling us shit is not the way.

Yeah, it’s nice and clean. My favourite flag is the Argie one with Poch on it.
We need to make it our own and put our own stamp on the place.

The Argie connection at the club is a thing, I often wonder why we’ve not made much more of it. Look at some of the things that go on at Poch’s Newells Old Boys -

Obviously I’d never expect us to suddenly start dressing up and I’m not volunteering to be the bloke in the morph suit going nutty with an umbrella! Maybe we could lift a couple of their songs though and make them our own?

Liverpool get their place rocking with songs they lift from everywhere and anywhere.

One of “their”songs being taken to a completely different level by River fans -

They also have a team that is playing great football and a team can get behind.
Until a couple of years ago, their great atmosphere had long gone into history, was one of the quieter away grounds we visit. Their neighbours over Stanley Park was much more intimidating.
Crowds feed from the team, not the other way around usually.

Before we are all put on suicide watch perhaps it is best to see how we are once Ndombele and Lo Celso and Sessessegon are match fit and Poch has been able to select the side he wants from fit players.

So that squad yesterday wasn't enough? If Poch can't get a better performance against the relegation favourites with that squad, at home. He needs to pack it in

Why is everyone blaming Lamela? If Harry et al had shown half the effort in front of him and it was still abject then I would agree.

We’ve seen that kind of performance countless times, where we struggle to break down teams that defend deep and in numbers. Last season we went a little more direct with Llorente, but we can’t do that anymore. Worried about just how slack we’ve been defensively; as the goals conceded against Villa and Newcastle were absolute shockers.

It didn't affect Man City or Liverpool, so no one cares...

The team, across the board, were hopeless, hapless, complacent, and lacked nerve. Hence us simply passing the ball side to side for an entire half of football. All ineffective build up and no penetration, like a lap dance where they don't take their pants off.

No one had the bottle to simply cross that ball in, have a shot, swamp the box. Poch's mix of Argentinian grinta and creole is great and all, but in those cases you just need a good old brog into a couple of big lads.

It was a disgraceful display. Players not showing for each other, next to no positional discipline, and apathetic and minimal movement. Kane was dropping deep in the first half to try and sort it out, the midfield was so pathetic.

Mess.

Indeed. The system is wrong. Allowing players like Son, Lucas, Kane and Lamela the freedom to go walkabout worked against us. They invariably moved inside and took up each others space. Fine if our fullbacks push forward into the wide spaces and cross, but they don't. Instead of stretching Newcastle by having players hold the width, we compressed the space and made their job so much easier. I honestly don't understand what Poch was thinking. We created next to nothing all game and yet he persists. All that possession yielded nothing. It's all very strange.

Aye, but its not just down to the manager/coach.

Sometimes the measure of a team is to take the initiative themselves, to spot whats happening and try to influence it. What's called "picking the game up by the scruff of the neck". Width is exactly what you need against a packed defence, but use the width to chuck balls in and have someone in their to challenge it. Its percentages, yes, but in those situations you are just as likely to head it on target, cause a scramble, win a corner or pen... as you are to have the ball cleared again.

Siege football. Plenty of opportunities to do that, but no one had the bottle.

So the players either don't listen to Poch, or he's just not telling them what to do. Either way, something very wrong at the moment. Poch seems to be digging his heels in again over Eriksen and Jan, but the results are working against him. Sanchez looks all at sea at the back and we're getting done with long punts forward. I'm dreading Arsenal. They will rip our back four to shreds.
