I think Tanganga looks much more calm and composed than in the past.

I also like some patterns in transition from defence to attack. Can see Conte stuff here.

Not sure its upper body that's the issue. It's Core. Modric struggled at first but once his core strength came in he became the player we all know him to be. Similar to David Silva. Really hope Gil can do the same.

It's not "bulk". I agree core might be the right term - he needs to be able to hold off defenders when he is getting barged. I thin that is more a function of physical maturity than anything.

I just looked up Bernardo Silva - he was 23 when he came to PL, so maybe another year for Gil to get there physically.

Difference is that Modders had spent his youth being kicked around the rough and tough Croatian leagues. He'd spent years having to build up that strength and while it took him a while to find his feet here, that may have been more down to the manager not thinking he had it in him (playing him out wide).

Gil has been a lot more protected coming through the Spanish leagues.
I still hope he'll make it but Modders did have a massive head start.

I can understand AC playing White in the Kane roll. He has vision & passing in his game and a good strike at goal on him. He does lack the physicality of Kane tho, he's not going to hold the ball up v a defender up his backside.
