I dont know if Jose would have been better next season with signings (I didnt want him). I know Dele hasnt been in the best of form (but theres a good player in there and he has done stuff that has him banked to not be discarded). I know we are playing Sheffield who have been relegated, but when did we last have 74% possesion over anyone? Was it last the 1-1 against Newcastle? Setting up to let the opposition worry about you rather than containing the opposition (which I dont think we are capable of) is a breath of fresh.

I'm also concerned that our managerial options are diminishing, unless DL already knows what he's doing. Alan Pardew it is then....

For all the talent Ndombele has, he's definitely not as good as Gio at showing for the ball and constantly being an option

Agree. Ndombele is hugely talented, but I feel he needs to / has the capability to be more dominant in the middle. I would like to see him controlling the game much more, as his passing is quality.

Thought Hansi Fleck was managing Bayern Munich?

That deliberate, look at his eyes, he’s looking at where Gio’s head is. Needs to be off for that.

But surely the approach was different? I know we were building from the back but Winks was being tasked with coming to receive but was being a total coward with the ball so hard to get anything going like that. Also Mason seemed to have a more defensive mindset.

It's difficult to know and easier to say in hindsight but I do believe we'd have seen more in the final if the players had time to build up confidence and a bit more understanding. We'd probably still have lost but it may have been different.

I think Mason looked at our win against City under Mourinho and tried his own version of that. We obviously sat back for quite a bit and avoided pressing to maintain our positions and cut off passing lanes.

He's young and learning and hopefully realized that his mistake in hindsight was trying copy someone else instead of relying on himself and, the team his own tactics/philosophy.
