This.
Son playing in the same position as Sane never once made a run in behind Zabaletta and Reid . No one with the ball in front of the penalty area is looking for that run. Man City constantly break down teams behind the ball because De Bruyne, Silva etc are looking for those runs and Sane, Stirling Jesus. Agurero etc keep making those runs in behind. We don't look like we've even considered it as a possibility which I find very worrying.
You mean apart from the several times he made that run to receive a lofted pass from Davies, Vertonghen or Dier? The one instant I clearly remember Reid fell over the ball whilst trying to cut it out but there were numerous other times we tried it, with some success. On the other side Aurier made several runs in behind, one of which resulted in one of our best chances.

Against Newcastle, Man City faced exactly what we did last night and it just happened that Sterling managed to bobble a shot in at the near post and they didn't concede a ludicrous, once in a lifetime type goal. In addition, the chance that Gayle missed for Newcastle near the end was far better than anything we let West Ham have last night.

The way some people are going on across the entire board today you'd think we'd lost having played directionless AVB style football. That's not the match I saw.

Those teams have to find a way of getting points off superior teams. Its is down to the superior team to find the result. Their chanting could be seen as a way of making light of the situation. Same as our '..one season wonder' chant is making light of a different situation. Do you think their are competitive leagues in the world where some teams dont park the bus?
I know it's up to us to break these teams down. I'm just saying that it's a shame teams don't come out to play. You would think the teams down the bottom would have a go and try and win 3 points. I can understand not wanting to lose again teams down the bottom but when you face the top clubs you can treat it like a no loss situation. Especially coming to Wembley, a stadium you wont play at too often. At least give the travelling fans something to shout about. Come out and play football. This was a London derby afterall.

Of course there are teams in other leagues that park the bus. I'm just not sure there are so many as there are in England. Only 2 teams have actually come out and played us in the league and that was Southampton and Liverpool. The other 2 were Real Madrid and Dortmund in the CL. All this money that BT and Sky throw into showing live games but so many teams are so negative. Of course I expect Spurs to find the anwers against these teams. But I'm still a football fan and I want to watch an exciting game of football.

That sounds suspiciously like the 'Poch hasn't got the players to do what he wants' excuse..... And, even if we've had a few injuries and other knocks, I just cant buy that anymore I'm afraid. He's in his fourth season, plenty of time to mould the squad with players who, maybe not all top quality, but have the abilities to do what he wants and play the type of football he wants. There's no excuse for having the creative black hole that was Dier/Sissoko as a cm2, especially in that type of game.
I guess the other thing is we really don’t know exactly how fit Wanyama and Winks actually are, only the coaching and medical staff know that? I had the feeling he felt like he was taking a risk with Kane to be honest. Yes I’m making excuses for him but I think he’s probably one of the best managers we have had for a decade so I like to, or maybe hope there are good reasons for what looks like to us to just be stupidly. I just think he is better at knowing and managing the team than us on this football forum? At least you would hope so

For me that game was exactly the game you play Trippier instead of Aurier.
They were always going to sit deep so we need to fizz some quality crosses in.
They were never going use pace to bomb down the wing so why Aurier?
This isn't the first time I've thought Poch has them the wrong way round for who we are playing, Man City for one.

We tried that experiment before, he played against Burnley and West Brom and he didon't produce one cross or telling cross in either match because there just no space for him to do it whatsoever. There's no space to get in behind, he doesn't have the pace or strength to get in behind the full back. He's a wasted shirt against these teams

Was 'shirt' a spelling mistake? :ROFLMAO:
I disagree but all about onions innit.
I normally try not to post right after a match as I'm angry if we don't beat a shower of plop but couldn't help myself.
We should have won and desered to win.
Not one deflection in the box fell our way. Was against the laws of probability to be honest.
Football Gods are cruel.
