Current series on bbc of a similar vein. After 6 weeks one of the lads has signed for Watford. 19yrs old from Cameroon, released by Forest. Stood out from the rest as busting a gut to be a pro.
some decent looking players , one got a contract from Matlock Town, others are in non league .
Caulker made a complete arse of his career with drink etc.

There are many others who go down the same path and are lucky enough that don't get caught out. gambling, drugs, alcohol, women. There are many reasons young wealthy footballers lose focus of their goal

On the official site you can see the u21 players listed in the 25-man-squad announcement and I spotted a couple of observations

Billy Heaps was not listed which seems to indicate he does not have a pro contract. Maybe just a month to month deal until he finds something else.

Only four U18s listed - Chaplin, Pele, Hall and Irow. These are the four that have pro contracts already from that group. Club have been trying to secure new deal with Ajayi but seemingly not done as yet.

Due to FIFA rules: there should be no movement internationally under the age of 18, and second, minors cannot be registered for the first time in a country where they are not a national. This applies to every international transfer of a minor, male and female, and professional as well as amateur. There are, however, some exceptions to these rules, which are:

1. The parents of the player move to the new country for reasons that are not related to football

2. The player is over 16 years old and is moving within the EU or within EEA territory, in which case the new club has to (a) provide the player with adequate football education, (b) provide him with academic/school education in addition to his football education, (c) look after the player in the best possible way, and (d) provide the relevant association with proof that the aforementioned requirements are met

3. Both the player and the club are within 50km of their shared border and the distance between player and club is less than 100km

4. Five year rule: The player is registering for the first time in another country after having lived in said country for the last five consecutive years

Nothing stops his Dad accepting a job in the Uk and relocating him to avoid this rule

I've seen a couple of clips of Pele and I've got to say, I'm far from impressed. I know he's missed a ton of football through injury but he looked absolutely miles off it. He got the pro deal as part of his initial contract but I don't see him getting ahead of anyone of our other centre backs.

I just watched the embedded video on that webpage just by chance and whilst the voice of the guy is really annoying the premise of the video is very interesting.

Essentially he compares Real Madrid academy and Barcelona academy and asks why in the same period of time that Barca have had 15 players come through and played over 200 games worth of minutes Real Madrid have had 5 players through who have played something ridiculous like 13 games worth of minutes between them.

The answer lies somewhere in that there are very clear ideas what the academy is for. Barcas academy is designed to develop players for Barca. Real Madrid is designed to develop player for any club and that's why they have the third most profitable academy in the world and have produced the most la Liga players but barely produce any for their own first team.

I think our club is sometimes stuck in the middle of these two extremes and struggles to do either really well

can't see what this is/was? Says "Not found"
It’s a tweet from Malachi Fagin-Walcott saying “ After 8 years at @SpursOfficial the time has come for me to say goodbye. I would like to thank everyone @SpursOfficial from players to staff for helping me become the person I am today, and helping me act upon a dream of become a professional footballer. Wish everyone all the best”

he deleted his first tweet that Dov quoted because he got the spurs official account wrong

We've all been there.

I once signed off leaving email for a company I'd worked for as "Love Samantha".

Needles to say my name is not Samantha, neither am I female.

Never trust a copy paste job

I watched that BBC series "Boots of Dreams" and mightily impressed by the way Gifton Noel Williams managed and nurtured. He is a talented coach and humble individual. What I did note from the group he had, in general, they were mentally weak, which i assume why most had been released. There were a couple who were Sunday league at best, but in amongst it there were a couple of real gems.
