Outstanding result, and it’s clear some of these boys have very bright futures.
Was rather hoping I might get the chance to see the boys at Oxford Utd next round but they got knocked out tonight by MK Dons.
BBC having trouble keeping up with our scoring these days - got us winning 0-0 on penalties!.

Donley and Soonsup-Bell very good obviously but I like Ashcroft. He’s not been on my radar at all.
Veliz obviously rusty and a little anxious. Made some good runs and he’s obviously a better finisher going by what we‘ve seen of his history.

Would be way more concerning if Véliz wasn’t getting into good positions and making good runs. He looks a good and composed finisher when he’s fully fit, so I think looking at his overall game tonight is a wiser way to look at it. We’ve got a long list of young strikers, you’d have to like our chances of producing at least one that’s good enough to make it as a first team player.

My only slight concern with this team is I think we are quite dependent on Donley to make it all tick. Not sure how we’d get on without him. He’s our mini-Maddison.

Let's not get on his back for missing a few. Let's recognise that was his first minutes for our club at senior or u21 level. He was in the positions, making runs. It'll come.
More importantly he's probably really short on fitness, this run out will have done him the world of good.

Curious to know, and apologies if this has already been answered previously... but do the youth teams play the same football as the first team?

He was brilliant and really wouldn’t mind seeing him involved in the first team squad. We’d be less reliant on him if we had those that went away on loan.

Just seen that Donley has 6 assists in the Premier League 2 already this season. For context, only 7 players got more assists in the entire PL2 season last year (none were Spurs players).

Colchester's players have certainly got more agressive with each goal we have scored.
Must be pretty demoralising for some clubs on the end of a spanking by a team of relative kids when you're a jobbing pro in the football league, to be fair|!

The other way of putting this is that Donley is an outstanding prospect with every chance of moving into the first team squad next season. If this leaves the U21 team weakened, then frankly who gives a damn.

And in leaves for a great opportunity for Mikey Moore to fill that role.
