A tiny bit off topic here but did anyone watch the u21 v Stoke?
More importantly the first 4 mins when the camera is focused on the crowd and players entrance? There seems to be a bit of drug dealing going on with some of the Stoke youngsters with a guy in the crowd, anyone else want to have a look and corroborate it for me?
Up at Stoke?? surely not

Yeah I know 😆 but it's players involved and it's right in front of the cam 😬

The culture has been changing for 2-3 years now, but we are only really seeing the fruits of this as the younger ones push up through the age groups. It's far more than the Ange(although I'm sure that plays it's part) feel good factor over Conte. FP changed so much behind the scenes as far as recruitment, coaching and retaining our better players that often used to choose to go elsewhere at the first opportunity. I know I keep banging on about how much he has done in this regard but I do believe if it is built upon rather than overhauled to fit the incoming DOF's way of doing things it will have a much bigger impact than the first team signings he's been responsible for.

I'm genuinely gutted Gabbanini has gone, and will also be if FP moves out of the picture completely because what they've done behind the scenes is very impressive and was pushing us very hard in the right direction.
Not sure that explains the lacklustre, bad-tempered performances of our U21s last season. The U21 regulars let go - Mundle, White, Bowden, Paskotsi, Fagan-Walcott, Cesay -weren’t donkeys, and Devine also played a fair bit for the U21s last season, as well as Lyons- Foster, Craig, John and Santiago, who are all now impressing. Even Mathurin who didn’t get much of a look in has strolled into a contract with Crystal Palace.

Good work has gone on behind the scenes for sure, particularly in terms of player recruitment. But the U21s were clearly underperforming last season. I just got the impression they didn’t feel valued.

iirc Bowden, Paskotsi and Mathurin suffered injuries/health issues so missed most part of last season

Pretty encouraging to see what a great guy Donley’s Dad seems to be. Hell of a talent with a good environment around him bodes very well. Easy to compare players to Kane, he very likely won’t be anywhere near as good, but the way he excels is very similar. Superb technique, high football IQ and great decision making/execution. The kind of player that will integrate really easily into first team level around better players when the time is right
Kane at 19 probably doesn’t get into this team. He was nowhere near a prem lge striker at that age.
Sheer hard work allowed his talent to flourish, plus Poch sorting him out.

In the next year or two? Yeh. It largely depends on injuries, loans, future signings.etc
Do it now. 15-20 minute run outs from the bench when we're a couple of goals up. He'll be 19 in January. We are awful at loan's, just integrate him.

Donley as the Maddison back up?
I wouldn’t be at all surprised given his performances this season.

I’m hoping he gets a loan to Championship Club in January where he can play in games where the result matters.

Even if he struggles with some aspects, having a player on the bench who presses like a demon and runs around like his life depends on it in the last 20 would be a bonus compared to Hojbjerg pointing at people.

Just don't see how it's not a win all round. Could have done it with Devine too. Desperate for us to make clear pathways for these top talents

At 19 Harry was Millwall’s young player of the season in the Championship and Sherwood was saying that he had nothing left to prove at that level and needed to be tested in the Premiership. Maybe not a starter at that point but ready to be integrated into the first team squad and to begin getting playing time.

Donley certainly looks a classy player at this level and has the physicality to match. Big future for him ahead.

Devine listed as assisting for Port Vale, only got text commentary though so it might be a Tom Carroll to Bale assist or it might be great 🤔😂
