My first impression was that this seems an underwhelming move, but Opta have ranked the Polish Ekstraklasa as the 18th best/most competitive league in the world, sandwiched between La Liga 2 and the Argentine Primera in 19th, which isn’t too shabby. Croatian HNL is 21st so it represents a step up. For further perspective, other talents we’ve been linked with include Bergvall (playing in the the Swedish Allsvenskan, ranked 24th) and Nusa (who at 16 broke through in the Norwegian Eliteserien, currently ranked 30th).

If he gets regular first team football as a 16 year old CB for a midtable club at an evidently decent level, that’s great going.
Yeah I'd agree with that - it is highly unusual for a 16 year old centre back to get a game in senior football. You do get the odd 16/17 year old getting games but they tend to be attackers or at a stretch midfielders. Centre backs are almost unheard of (at least I can't think of any).

Have I just not been paying attention or do hamstrings seem to be going at an accelerated (no pun intended) rare this season, and not just at our club either?

The article said that it was organised by Hajduk and there is no mention of Spurs being consulted.
It also says that the plan is to go out on loan again in the summer to either Germany or the Netherlands next season.
Local journos from Radomiak are saying that people from Spurs are currently in Radom to finalise a deal and they didn't mention anyone from Hajduk. And that Radomiak about possibility of other players from us

Despite what the article said it does make sense that we would at least have been consulted about any loan moves. Especially if Hadjuk weren’t going to play him. Interesting that they’re talking about the possibility of other Spurs players going out there. Would be interested to know who they’re talking about.

A few months back someone was hypothesising about the impact the long delays due to VAR checks was having on muscles. It claimed that the uncertainty regarding the length of the check meant players werent able to keep their muscles sufficiently warmed up and tightness in the hamstrings was becoming more common.

That really clever yellow card for Donley last night was the Harry Kane at Old Trafford moment of this decade.

Was a smart piece of play. Well done lad.

So Donley came on against Brentford and even though I've heard the name, I realised I am out for the loop a bit with some of our youth players.

Does anyone have a rundown on Donley, what kind of a player is he, how does he play, where does he fit in with the team formation. I have no clue but it was good to see him come on.

I’m not sure his first team appearances are a good indication of the type of player Donley is - he seems to have come on in midfield and done more work near our own box than the opponents, when in the youth teams he was the main goal scorer and striker to begin with but the last 18-24 months he has been played as more as number 10, creator type.

I think he has strong mental skills (determination, work ethic but also game vision and awareness), technically good, and probably just needs to enhance his physical capabilities from a good base to become a PL standard player in the future.

What happens between now and 1st Sept will be key - he either needs to make a good breakthrough this season or be on loan at a top half championship team from the start of next season so his development continues.

certainly has potential

It’s been a good window, but I’m disappointed we haven’t arranged more youth loans. They can be so good for a young player’s development.

Other clubs seem to have less problems getting lads out on loan. Tommy Bloxham who was picked up by Blackburn after leaving in the summer as one of the few second years to fail to secure a professional contract, has just secured a League Two loan at Harrogate.

Good on him, but is he really that much more in demand than our table topping U21s? It’s certainly not because he is more ready physically. Watching his progress at Blackburn, where he scored on his debut, must be a little depressing for his immediate contemporaries, most of whom have been struggling to break into the U21 team because of the log jam of players.
