The problem we have had over the last couple of decades is our academy in general has been pretty poor in comparison to a lot of other clubs, and the players that have stood out have certainly been over hyped. The academy now is actually very strong as has been proven by both the 21's and 18's topping their leagues. On top of this the 18's and 16's also won their league cups last season to further prove that point. Mikey Moore is the stand out player at our academy that contains a lot of good players.

Thing is you can forget all that because he is a stand out player for his age group across the entire country, and by "his age group" I mean the under 18's and the kid is still 16. Of course this is no guarantee he will go on to be a world class talent, but he's not like Edwards, Bostock or Adel, all three of which had off the field issues. He's thoroughly dedicated and even if he started to wobble his old man would soon have him back on track because that's the type of family he comes from. Honestly mate this is basically the consensus of everyone I speak to within the game.
I like this, and talking about Mikey's family, agreed, having spoken to him myself about his son, really nice guy, really realistic, humble and also a massive bloke (I'm not small myself). He has a good family supporting his development there!

It would almost assuredly come down to money if he makes that move. Much like Chelsea City use their academy primarily to make money and get around FFP, if Tyrese were to make that move he should be expecting to then be sold in 1 to 2 years time after joining City.
I think that's a big sell for City, and something we should do better.

City are always prepared to let young players leave, at the right price, and subject to buy back options / sell-ons etc. Over the past few years - Porro, Palmer, Trafford, Harrison, Morgan Rogers, Lavia, Bazunu, Edozie, Doyle, Tosin, Frimpong, Sancho, Douglas Luiz, etc. etc.. Some good players in that list. Whereas Spurs cling to their prospects, even when there's little chance of them making it into the first team. Some of those players' careers stall at Spurs, some irrecoverably. Whereas signing for City, I think players know that either they'll make it, or they'll be sold and have a chance to make it elsewhere.

If Hall gets to 21 and is looking like he's going to be a midtable player, he'll be stuck at Spurs while they hold out for money they'll never get, not playing, and going backwards. Same situation at City, he'd be sold on to a Southampton or Leicester or Villa or someone for £10m with a buyback option at £30m and make a decent career for himself.

Appreciate there are other factors at play - having a network of clubs to farm these players out to, and the resources to churn through a huge number of players without completely emptying their U18/U21 teams - but I'd be amazed if City weren't selling that as a reason to choose them over the likes of Spurs.

Surely you sign for City to hopefully play for them.
Come and sign for us so we can make money out of you. Great selling point.

Think a fairer version of the pitch is "Come and sign for us and we will give you a much better chance of having a professional career, with us, one of our affiliate clubs or with another club." vs. "Stay with Spurs and hope that you're good enough/lucky enough to break through."

I imagine Hall will look at the Bergvall acquisition and think that perhaps he's got better chances of progressing outside of Spurs.
I'd hope he'd be looking at the Bergvall signing and thinking, "damn, I could form a fantastic partnership with that lad".
If he's looking at running off because he's potentially got competition, does he really have the fortitude we want?
