Stade Rennais loan for Spence

Djed Spence has joined Ligue 1 side Stade Rennais for the remainder of the 2022/23 season.

Having joined us from Middlesbrough last summer, the England Under-21 international made his Premier League debut in a 2-0 victory over Nottingham Forest in August, 2022.

What was the point of chasing this kid most of the summer, only to stick him on the bench and now ship out. Whenever he was on, he was a spark out there. Him and Gil out are pretty hord to stomach.

Because, after watching that game, it's quite obvious why Conte hasn't been playing Spence.
He's good going forward but his defensive play, both positioning and tracking back leave a lot to be desired.

Conte would blow a gasket on the sideline at him, screaming at him to get into position and wake up defensively.
Royal might not have the attacking guile but he's totally a Conte player in comparison.
It's only one game but for me, it's answered the question that Spence is certainly "not the Messiah".

Not great. Didn't really stand out for anything good but at the same time, not terrible.
I know that's not very helpful but he was a bit "meh", a bit invisible but not in a good way.

Well yes, of course but also, not every player is coachable.
It's still early doors and hopefully this loan will do him the world of good but there are some obvious deficiencies to his game that may, or may not be coachable.
I've not seen a lot of Spence but as far as I can see, there's a lot of potential but that doesn't necessarily equate to becoming a great player.
Time will tell, I guess.
He wouldn't be the first player that fails, not due to his natural talents but because of his mentality.

I don't know where it is being played but I would assume both Joe Rodon & Djed Spence will play ?

I may watch this for shits and giggle instead of Barca / Man Utd
