Close this garbage, another pointless post from siyidarmy. Read the date on articles you read.

What next, Hitler hung himself?

Do try and keep up. Most of the properties on the High Street frontage have been boarded up for well over a year now.

Yes there seems to be a thread a week with the same 'revelations'.

By the way it's try to keep up SS57. I don't know, the youth of today

some good points there BT - it's a difficult one - it's not just about revenue though - we need to get more people watching Spurs on a regular basis to keep our fan base going - I know there are empty seats at UEFA cup games etc - but I think it's important for more fans to be able to see the big lge games too - as a kid in the 60s I would have been well deprived if I hadn't been able to see the Man U Arsenal Pool games etc

True, but even if you're only a member, it's easy enough to get tickets to those games if you're on the ball enough. Damn expensive, but easy enough. Kids these days love their 'internet', after all…

Maybe that's not the point though.

fair comment GP - but I still think we could get a broader fan base attending with a bigger stadium - I may be wrong of course

I donk think our fan base would increase because of a bigger stadium.

We would get bigger attendances but thats blindingly obvious.

fair enough Mark :) - it's all about opinions - I disagree - but I can't prove my statement

Er, if we expand to 55,000 as seems to be the word, then it'll be bigger than newcastle, everton and chelski and only 5k smaller than arse.

That 5k is a massive difference. I believe they managed to succeed in the early 90's in part to having a bigger stadium, and it was less that 5k bigger. Also there are rumours they want to expand to 100k and they could easily sell 70k.

There's no reason to sell ourselves short, it's going to be more expensive in the long run if we build a stadium that's still too small. Building a 100,000 seater stadium in a better location would also allow us to hire the stadium out for things like the CL final, or concerts, which would bring money into the club. Right now those events would either go to Wembley or Arsenal

If we want a 100,000 capacity stadium and don't mind moving out, why not just buy Wembley? That would give us immediate occupancy anstead of waiting for 2 to 3 years to see the new stadium materialise.

Chinaman, only a certain number of matches allwoed to be played per year at wembley ruling out a club side to use it for league games.

Total fantasy.

At a meeting BOF attended and reported upon a while back a club representative was asked about stadium plans. He said that there were doubts that we could fill a 60,000 stadium regularly, and that once punters knew that they could turn up on the day and get a seat season ticket sales would suffer.

The Arse may want to expand the Death Star, but they haven't got the space. Also, I doubt the basic design would permit it.

Does anyone know whether it will be a 50k or 60k seater stadium? I hope its the latter, it's not like we can't fill the damn thing... Its gotta be at least as big as the Arses stadium, surely...

The difference between the early 90's and now is that gate receipts probably made up the vast majority of a premier league clubs income then and now it probably only accounts for a fraction of most clubs income.

I believe season ticket sales last season amounted to £18m—just 17.5% of the plc's income.

And with the new 3 year £2.7b TV deal it's only going to reduce the percentage even more in future years.

I think within the next 10 years all 380 games will be shown live and this is going to have a huge impact on attendances, so maybe now isn't the right time to be expanding our stadium. At the end of the day money talks and if the clubs can make enough money out of TV rights they won't care about attendances.

Jim Duggan on TopSpurs, who always appears to be ITK, heard a whisper about a strong possibility of the new stadium being located on the Wingate Trading Estate, to the north of Paxton Road. He thinks it could be for a 55k or 60k arena. This is much the same as what you have previously heard SS57, isn't it?

I'm surprised it's that high. I'm assuming that doesn't include other match day tickets?

I think nearly one fifth of the entire clubs income coming from us st holders is reasonable substantial.

I had that from a local councillor just before Christmas (at least about the location); the club had been making enquiries about buying up the houses at the north end of Worcester Avenue.

It will be interesting to hear what Levy has to say (if indeed he commits himself to anything), but that would seem to be the commonsense solution. I think the main question will be the exact capacity, but I don't see Levy rushing into anything until what is happening in the financial markets becomes clearer. I'll hazard a guess that 2012 is the date the club has in mind, though.
