Harry Redknapp has revealed he hopes to pull off one major transfer swoop in January to send out a message to the rest of the Premier League that Tottenham are a club moving in the right direction...http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11095/7396873/

With the gaffer admitting one big star signing, who would you like that star to be? What position and why?

Edinson Cavani.

Is he likely to be available?
As I pointed out at the start of last Summer (sorry I have an anlly retentive memory, and many folk folk these details ), the very first player we were linked with when 'Arry took over was a certain Mr Cavani (still on the American landmass, at the time), and the general response was who the :eek:mg: is that

Didn't he say this in the last 2 transfer windows? I don't expect any big name signings not that I am too bothered to be honest.

BUT....... Would still love to see Torres in a Spurs shirt. Personally think its a perfect fit for both parties. Think Torres would thrive at Spurs.

Can't see Chelsea selling him to us though.

would be brillant, but why would they sell him, still in the Champions League etc...

But also, where would we play him?

Unless we've found out that we can't sign adebayor and are ready to gobble up any opportunity that comes our way now.

Come on, let's be realistic here - no star signing will be made in January and nor do I think it's a necessity either to fulfil our potential.

That doesn't mean to say we can't make a few alterations to the squad but anyone expecting Daniel carrying a wheelbarrow of cash round Spain again and expecting miracles is just fallacy.

I have a problem thinking of a big star who is likely to be available to us during this transfer window in a position we need. If for instance we signed Kaka, wouldn't he just be cover for Modric? A star centre back but who? Another striker but who? Cavani is still playing in the UCL and Chelsea aint going to sell us Torres. Teves will be too expensive. Any star player we sign may not yet be what we all consider to be a star player. Marin would come into that category.
Another fast winger who can play either side and another striker would be the ideal.

With the meagre salary we pay compared to the other big clubs, any hope of a marquee signing remain just that...hope.

Realistically I would sign any 2 of the 3 Dems i.e. DembaBa, Dembele or Dempsey. Demba Ba would be a perfect replacement for Adebayor, and Dembele can play off him, while Dempsey can deputise for Bale or Lennon or Modric. These look like realistic signings, provided of course we offload the likes of jenas, kranky, pienaar, pav and maybe Hudd.

Yep he sure did, seems to have been saying it for years now

I predict we won't be making any such signing in January
