Didn't he have a record for consecutive appearances for us without injuries or anything? he was a great RB without a doubt,ok he made a bit of a fool of himself with going to Newcastle and the remarks he made and all that but I can forgive him that.
I used to sit up by the Paxton/west stand corner. In one half we would have Ginola down in front of us, the other half, Carr. Only players worth watching at the time, had shirts with each name on the back. Gutted he made a muppet of himself when he left.
Didn't Newcastle get rid for Bobby Robson shortly after he signed? They weren't a bad team at that point but they got progressively worse after. Unfortunately for Stephen Carr we got a lot better shortly after he left, so in hindsight he should have stuck around for a bit longer.
I didn't think this at the time, but to be honest, I can't really blame him for not believing in the new dawn though, looking back at the Spurs teams of the 90's and early 00's, I remember every year being optimistic, but pretty much each year ended with disappointment. Even after Sugar left, it took a few years for Levy and co to find their feet.
I can imagine, even if you loved the club as a player, you'd get pretty pissed off with the merry go round of managers and players that we had during his stay. The better players always want to win, and keep improving, and will get restless if they feel held up. If they didn't have that as part of their nature, they most likely wouldn't be as good as they are.
